Pros & Cons
Pros & Cons
- This chain and this cassette were made for each other and work together seamlessly!
- Both the cassette and chain are very light, so you can shave a few more grams off your bike.
- This cassette is compatible with all Shimano 11-speed road bike groupsets, and you'll shift gears extra fast and smoothly thanks to the specialised grinding method!
- This cassette will last longer than cassettes from Shimano's lower price class, thanks to its specialised coating.
- Easy to install and uninstall thanks to the quick link.
- The spider is made of aluminium, which is less rigid and heavier than the carbon spider on a Dura-Ace cassette.

With this Shimano Ultegra R8000 combi deal your bike will be all set again. This chain and cassette are lightweight, durable and shift gears very smoothly and quietly. They're important ingredients for optimal performance!
Cassette
The Shimano Ultegra R8000 Cassette has been optimised even further. Shimano was able to shave off some weight again, the cassette has an improved finish for a smoother shifting motion and is somewhat more durable than its predecessor. Cassettes are available with different ratios for different terrains. For example, the cassettes ending on 23T and 25T are used more for flat and slightly sloping roads, while the 28T are used for hilly roads and the 30T and 32T are for real mountain rides. Of course, you have to take into account whether you ride compact, semi-compact or double.
Chain
The HG701 Quick Link is a Shimano 11-speed Ultegra/XT quality chain with a Quick Link. This chain is suitable for both 11-speed mountain bikes and 11-speed road bike groups. Other chain brands already had it, and now Shimano does too: the Shimano Quick Link is a quick way to uninstall the chain, so you can clean or replace it. You can then close the chain again using the Chain link. With this link, you can easily fit the chain on your bike, without any tools, after shortening the chain with a chain tool.

How often should I clean my bike? Regular cleaning ensures that your materials last longer, so you'll be able to enjoy cycling for a longer time. How often you'll need to clean your bike depends on the weather conditions in which you ride. Do you cycle through all kinds of weather, or do you only go out when the sun is shining? It all affects the degree of wear and tear and some people will have to clean their bikes more often than others. Use the schedule below as a guide:
October to March:
• Clean every 200 km
• Rinse after every ride
• Dry and oil the chain after every ride
• Leave the bike to dry at room temperature
April to September:
• Clean every 300 km
• Rinse off after cycling in the rain
• Dry and oil the chain after polishing or rinsing
• Leave the bike to dry at room temperature

What's the difference between an HG800 and an R8000 cassette?
There are two cassettes, with two separate product codes, on this page. These two cassettes are part of the same groupset and are of the same quality. However, there are differences in their range and compatibility.
The CS-R8000 cassettes are available with ranges between 11/25 and 11/32, and fit a Shimano HG 9-12 speed body. The CS-HG800 cassette is available with an 11/34 range, and is just as wide as a 10-speed mountain bike cassette. It'll fit on an HG 9-12 speed freehub body as well as a 10-speed freehub mountain bike body.
