When adventure calls your name, jump on your bike with the Garmin Edge Explorer 1000 as your buddy. This bike navigation is your ideal partner for surprising bike rides. Thanks to the pre-installed bike map of Europe you can play on the road and off-road. The Edge Explorer can help you with planning the most beautiful routes. Enter the preferred distance, altitude or the direction you want to ride, and the Edge Explorer 1000 calculates three bike-friendly routes for you. What could be more fun than to discover new trails on your bike? This feature is ideal in new, unfamiliar environments, for example on your holidays.
If you would like to plan beforehand where you want to ride, then the free Garmin Connect platform is a convenient option to plan your route, search for useful places and download all of this to your Edge Explore 1000. This is possible on your smartphone and your desktop.
Because the Edge Explore 1000 is also compatible with the new Garmin Varia Radar system, your bike rides become even safer. This optional rear view radar with integrated bike light clearly shows on the screen of the Explore 1000 when a vehicle is approaching from behind. Moreover, you can keep your hands at your handlebar: the supplied Edge remote control can be mounted next to your grip this ensures safe operation of the Edge Explore.
Speaking of safety: the built-in accident detection sends automatically, or manually, alerts to your preset contacts. This is done through your linked (compatible) smartphone. These connected functions make even more possible: receive weather alerts and smart notifications via the free Garmin Connect Mobile app. You can also use Live-tracking, e-mail notifications and wireless receiving and sending of rides.
Thanks to its integrated GPS and Glonass reception the reception capabilities are optimal with the Garmin Edge Explore 1000.

Excellent bit of kit .

This is an excellent bit of kit . I use it purely for its gps and as a touring guide . Pretty simple to set up and I particularly like the compatibility with your phone so you see calls and texts
