Description
These Shimano J05A Resin disc brake pads are 50% more wear-resistant than its predecessor, the Shimano J03A Resin disc brake pads. This durability has been achieved without compromising the quick engagement and low noise these brake pads produce. In addition, the cooling fins provide improved heat dissipation, so you maintain sufficient braking power even on long descents.
Organic Compound
Organic brake pads are made up of soft materials. As such, these brake pads give excellent metering and braking power. Due to the soft compound, this pad also grips quickly. In addition, the organic compound ensures that these brake pads make little noise while driving.
The disadvantage of organic brake pads is that they are less able to withstand higher temperatures that can occur during long descents, for example. This has already been improved by the cooling fins, but the heat resistance is still less than with brake pads with a harder, (semi-)metallic compound. Also, harder brake pads are still more wear-resistant than the organic J05A Resin disc brake pads.
In short, if you cycle a lot on flats and in dry weather, these J05A brake pads are an excellent choice. Even on descents in medium mountains, you will still be fine with these. Do bear in mind that the brake pad wears faster and that if you go for several days, bring new pads.
If you are going to use your bike mainly in muddy conditions or know yourself to brake a lot, look for brake pads with a Semi-Metallic or Metallic compound.
