The new Dura Ace R9100 C40 wheelset is part of the R9100 series. This model is the most all-round in the range because of its intermediate rim depth. The C40 can be used on both the flats and mountains because of its aluminium brake surface. Contrary to what the name might suggest, these wheels are 35 mm and not 40 mm deep.
The rim is instantly recognisable because of its clean looks and well-known silver font. The Shimano Cup Cone bearings require regular maintenance but are considerably more durable than most industrial bearings. This is because they experience far less friction when cornering. By using an intermediate depth rim the spokes can be kept shorter, making them less flexible and optimising your power transfer. Shimano wheels are guaranteed to offer you excellent spoke tension and high levels of lateral rigidity.

Installing a cassette on a wheel is easy if you have the right tools. If you purchase a cassette remover with a Shimano fit, you will be able to mount either a Shimano or Sram cassette on your rear wheel. Please note! For a Campagnolo cassette you need the Campagnolo tool. If you have a Shimano 9/10-speed cassette, first slide the spacer over the body. Then you place the cassette on the body. This can only be done in one way because of the fit of the body. Finally you turn the washer straight on by hand and tighten it with the cassette tool. Cassettes aren’t easily overtightened, but if you want you can use a torque wrench for this.

• Pay attention to the direction of travel when mounting your tyres.
• For Shimano 9/10-speed, do not forget to mount the spacer first before installing the cassette.
• Make sure the rim tape is stuck well in the rim.
