Super smooth and fast, ace

- Martin, 31 August, 2021

Super happy with the GP5000, an even better upgrade as used GP4000 on previous bike which were good. Going tubeless as well made these even better, they ride so smooth, feel confident and grippy but only had dry rides so far. Fitting was a little tighter than normal TIRE, but sealed up first try, cool. I bought 32c and fitting to wider RIMS measured 32mm. Playing with tyre pressures 60psi rear & 55psi front was best and comfortable on road and still fast. I'm now gaining just over 1mph on my average ride speed. That might be more the new bike but sure helped by the GP5000 over the original Giant brand fitted which felt a bit hard

Pros & Cons

Fit and seal well, easy
Love the soft sound the make rolling
Roll so well
Super smooth
A bit more expensive but worth it
A bit tight to fit

5 / 5

Sporty and tough

- Ian, 21 August, 2021

The tyres have performed very well, though at the stated pressures (around 65-70PSI tubeless) they are pretty firm - I have heard they can be run at much lower pressures for an easier ride. They were tough to seat on my rims but that might vary with make of wheel. Overall, I'm very pleased with these tyres.

Pros & Cons

Lightweight
Low resistance
Seems pretty tough
Tricky to seat and seal on my Hunt wheels

5 / 5

A bit Pricey, can be tight fitting but definitely my go to "Tubeless Road Tyre" of choice

- Leigh, 17 August, 2021

I have fitted a dozen of these recently along with Vittoria air liners & Using Stans "No Tubes" Sealant... Superb once fitted but can be a tight fit, I use a soapy water solution to aid the mounting (Works well) virtually Bomb Proof Incidentally Mantels pricing & Deliveries are hard to beat I have purchased several items from Mantel & have found them "Faultless" in every aspect

Pros & Cons

All the benefits of the Conti Grand Prix brand
Good puncture resistance
Great Rolling Resistance
Awkward to fit
Bit Pricey
No Tan Wall available

5 / 5

Fast and grippy

- Anthony, 13 July, 2021

Very happy, long term 4000 user so happy to go with this. Friends had good experience with wear so far, I've put on 1000km and fine so far

Pros & Cons

Easy tubeless set up
Grip
Speed
Slightly awkward to fit on rim

5 / 5

A fast rolling tubeless tyre that has proven very reliable for me on the awful roads of South Wales

- Andrew, 7 July, 2021

Purchased a new pair of these tubeless tyres. Previous pair went around 3500 miles & never failed to get me home through punctures. Sealant works well in combination with these tyres. The new tyres were a bit tight fitting on my new Campagnolo Bora wheels but I managed to get them in with a little persuasion using a lever. Tyres popped into position using basic track pump first time. Sealant has worked with very little pressure loss. These tyres roll extremely fast in the tubeless set up, far quicker than any tubed versions that I have ever used. Decent mileage before requirement to change out through wear indicators

Pros & Cons

Decent puncture resistance & durable
Sealed first time
Very fast rolling tyres
Expensive
Quite tight fitting

5 / 5

Top Tyres

- Tony, 14 June, 2021

First time using these tyres, got them because they seem to be the best out there in terms of rolling resistance and puncture protection. Havent tested for durability, but first 400km havent had any issues. As always top service from Mantel.

Pros & Cons

Good puncture protection
Seals perfect
Self sealing punctures
Top Rolling Resistance
Hard to fit
Messy to fit

4 / 5

High volume road tubeless tyres that do what they are supposed to do

- John-Paul, 29 May, 2021

Very easy to fit by hand (no levers or tyre fitting liquid) on modern rims ie 21mm internal width like Hed Belgium Plus or NoTubes Avion's. Doesn't work well with narrower tubeless ready rims such as Stan's Alpha 400's - the enlarged/reinforced bead takes up too much space in the inside of the rim to allow the tyre to be fitted cleanly. The 5000 TL sits along side the venerable GP 4 Seasons if you want to make the jump to tubeless, especially on heavily textured road surfaces and on un-made back roads here in the UK.

Pros & Cons

Air tight without sealant
Available in larger sizes ie 32c
Easy to fit by hand on wide rims >21mm internal
Super grippy rubber compound
Doesn't suit older/narrow tubeless road rims
Not as light as Schwalbe Pro One tyre.
Relatively expensive

5 / 5

Great tyres, grip really well in the wet, could last longer but you can’t have everything.

- Peter, 11 December, 2020

Grip is excellent especially in the wet, I have them on both of my road bikes. Not the cheapest and only last around 2500 miles on the rear but the grip is my main concern so I think they’re well worth paying for.

Pros & Cons

Wet weather grip
Only last around 2500 miles on the rear

4 / 5

Seem ok

- Jack, 4 October, 2020

Only giving this an 8 as they seem ok but will need to see after a lot more miles.

4 / 5

Tough, Heavy and Plush

- Antony, 28 September, 2020

These are excellent, strong and roll well enough. They dont roll *that* well and are noticebly heavy. The bead is HUGE and can be tough to get on the rim, but if you have done enough tyres they are OK. They are not as plush feeling as say a Hutchinson Sector 28 but overall very good.

Pros & Cons

Good grip
Nice feel
Tough
Bit of drag
Hard to fit
Heavy

5 / 5

Great Tyre

- Neil, 23 September, 2020

Challenging to fit but once on the rim it's top class. Time will tell on the punctures with TL set-up but happy so far.

Pros & Cons

Hopefully less punctures
Lower pressures
Nice ride
Challenging to fit

5 / 5

Great tyre and great service

- John, 2 September, 2020

This is the second set of GP5000tl I have had. First set lasted 5,000km without one issue. Found a few thorns and cuts when I took them off and the rest was worn down to the vet ran later in a few small parts. Really impressed and Mantel offer great service with a great product at a great price.

Pros & Cons

Confidence inspiring in corners
Durable
Puncture resistance
Run fast

5 / 5

Brilliant

- John, 26 August, 2020

Tyres are brilliant fast rolling super comfy and easy to fit. No issues at all.

4 / 5

Not airtight without sealant

- David, 16 July, 2020

These tyres are marketed as tl with airtight butyl inner lining but without sealant the sidewalls are really porous. The tyres were really difficult to fit but then seated first time with track pump. After adding sealant pressure retention is now fine and ride/ handling quality is superb

Pros & Cons

Easy seating
Great ride and handling
Not, as claimed, airtight without sealant
Really difficult to fit

5 / 5

do exactly as expected

- Aidan, 23 June, 2020

Just the job

- John, 21 December, 2019

Very quick and very comfortable in 28mm tubeless form at least. No flats so far fingers crossed, but I’ve only done a couple of hundred winter miles so far. Time will tell but I’ve never been let down by Conti tyres and I’ve been using them for years. 10/10.

Pros & Cons

Comfortable
Good puncture protection
Reasonable weight
Very quick
Expensive

Do not fit Mavic Kysirim Elite UST wheels

- Alan, 22 October, 2019

As a user and fan of Continental 4000 tyres I welcomed the new 5000 tubeless and bought a pair at a great price from Mantle. I and several experienced people, including those at my local bike shop, tried to fit them to on of my Mavic Kysirim Elite UST tubeless-ready wheels with no success. Even if it had fitted it would have been impossible to remove in an emergency if out riding. Continental advised me at Ride London registration that they would fit but now has confirmed that the tyre is not compatible with this wheel set. I am stuck with a new tyre that is unfit for purpose as it cannot be refunded because I tried to fit it. However, at least Mantel have kindly agreed to refund the unopened one. Many thanks, Mantel. Poor from Continental service though.

Great tyre, great price, great delivery

- Dan, 26 September, 2019

I need some a couple of spare tyres for a 600 mile ride I was doing. I already use the same tyres, have for a year and think they and tubeless are great

5 / 5

Best tyre I've ever bought.

- Kim, 25 September, 2019

I've had tubeless tyres before but went back to tubed tyres after just getting too many punctures. Needing a new tyre I did a lot of investigating on the Internet regarding which tyres are best. The 5000TL had some good reviews so I hesitantly decided to try it. So far around 1,000 miles and no puncture. What has surprised me most, though, is how comfy the ride is now. The roads around here are rubbish, some I avoid simply because the surface is too rough. I'm not saying the tyre gets rid of all the shuddering but there is a definite improvementin the level of comfort. My only concern is the amount of effort it took to get the tyre on. It was not an easy task and if I do get a bad puncture whilst out that requires fitting a tube, then that will be a challenge. Overall I am really pleased with the tyre.

Pros & Cons

Remarkably smoother ride.
So far good puncture resistance.
Not the cheapest tyre around.
Not the easiest tyre to fit.

5 / 5

Great tubeless tyres

- Michael, 6 August, 2019

Easy to fit without any leak problems. Great rolling resistance and overall a big improvement over tubed tyres. 200+ faultless miles so far.

Pros & Cons

Better handling
Ease of fit
Great grip
Rolling resistance

1 / 5

Too tight - couldn't fit them.

- Paul, 6 August, 2019

These tyres are just too small to fit my Giant carbon wheels - gone back to Giant Gavia race 0 tyres - fitted by hand no problem.

Pros & Cons

Too tight to fit by hand
Very difficult to fit

5 / 5

Excellent

- Steven, 29 July, 2019

Easy to mount, doesn’t cut as easy as Schwalbe pro one, compliant ride. Very good tubeless tyre.

4 / 5

Great tyres for racing

- Steven, 18 July, 2019

First time user of tubeless tyres, fitted reasonable easy with no issues. Tried first time with no sealant and stayed up over night. Put sealant in next day. Tyres feel slightly faster that the GPS 4000 but that may be just me. Running lower pressures so comfort is better and slightly wider 28. So hopefully miles of riding with no flats, time will tell.

Pros & Cons

Light
No pinch flats
Expensive

5 / 5

Easy to fit and so comfy on the road

- Tim, 11 July, 2019

The tyres sealed easily. Were easy to fit. Are. Very quiet whilst riding. Lower pressures mean they are so much more comfortable than tyres with higher pressures

Pros & Cons

Easy to fit
Low pressure
Quiet

5 / 5

Excellent tubeless tyres

- Richard, 8 July, 2019

These are without doubt the best tubeless tyres I have ridden on ... yes they are expensive, but worth it for the peace of mind

Pros & Cons

Great quality

5 / 5

Great tubeless tyre. Possibly the best?

- David, 6 July, 2019

I've previously tried three different brands of tubeless tyres and so far these have been the easiest to fit by a significant margin. Time will tell how they perform and how durable they are as it is early days, but it is looking good. I have another wheelset with Schwalbe Pro Ones on, and so far I prefer these. The sealant also seems excellent.

Pros & Cons

Excellent so far.

- Jonathan, 20 June, 2019

I’ve only been on one fifty and a work and back but it’s enough to know how they have improved the the comfort aspect of Cycling on poor roads enormously, I don’t believe they’re much faster, certainly not uphill or into a good breeze I would have given a ten if I’d covered 1000k without a puncture.

Transformational tyres

- Nicholas, 18 June, 2019

Significant improvement in grip, comfort and feel of my bike. Going tubeless has made me reconsider changing my unforgiving Italian bike for something more compliant. Very happy that I chose these.

Pros & Cons

Better feel
Better grip
Good quality
Quicker
Expensive, but worth it...

At last a Conti tubeless

- Jeff, 17 June, 2019

Replaced my Schwalbe Pro Ones with these and now have the confidence I had with Conti GP4000S clinchers back. These went onto the rims so easily, sealed with a track pump and 30ml of sealant and have not lost pressure. On the road they are fast, smooth, hard wearing and confidence inspiring on corners, wet and dry. The best.

Pros & Cons

Easy to fit
Fast
Handling
Expensive

5 / 5

Roll fast, and definitely more comfort compared to GP4000S II

- Matthew, 12 June, 2019

Took quite a bit of effort to for on my Hunt Carbon Aero 30 wheels, needing tyre levers. Had air leaking out of the bead on my first ride after hitting a pothole. The sealant eventually sealed this and was able to ride home. Seem to lose pressure more quickly than the traditional tube tyres - so always worth checking pressures before every ride

Pros & Cons

Comfort
Grip
Looks
Rolling resistance
A little expensive
Not as easy to install as traditional tyres

5 / 5

Excellent TL tyres

- Simon, 3 June, 2019

Not the cheapest TL tyre but now my favourite. Straight up with track pump no messing with booster / CO2 or seating with a tube. Probably because bead is really supple. Roll really well too

Pros & Cons

Easy TL inflation
Fast
Grip
Light
Pricey

5 / 5

Outstanding comfort

- Rich, 28 May, 2019

Very impressed with these tyres. Very worthwhile upgrade. At 75kg I’ve been running these at 85psi which has resulted in a buttery smooth ride over Cornish roads that are far from perfect. I’ve really noticed the added grip too coming from the Conti Grandsports. I’ve heard people can get these seated using a standard track pump? .... This didn’t work for me! They went on fairly easily to my HED Ardennes rims and seated first time using compressor pump. Would highly recommend these tyres.

Pros & Cons

Comfortable
Durabable
Lightweight
Can require a bit of effort to get onto rims
Expensive

5 / 5

Great, but!

- Thomas, 20 May, 2019

I am a huge fan of conti tyres and was over the moon when the company announced their entry into road tubeless. I first tried to fit them to my mavic ksyrium pro's but after two hr's of grunting, swearing and sweating had to give up! I then tried them on my pacenti tubeless rims and went on lovely. Sealed with a track pump first attempt and wow what a fantastic ride they deliver. Very fast and after nearly a month of rough Cornish roads still like new. I thoroughly recommend them but not with mavic rims!

Pros & Cons

Durable
Fast rolling
Looks
Smooth
True to size
Expensive
Very tight fit

5 / 5

Upgraded to tubeless... I’m converted!

- Kevin, 16 April, 2019

Impressed how easy these mounted to Mavic tubeless ready rims. Seated with less than 5 pumps of the track pump. Holding pressure nicely, 300km in and impressed with ride comfort (compared to gatorskin hardshells). Traction is good (so far only used in cool dry conditions).

Pros & Cons

Comfort
Ease of mounting and setup
Traction

5 / 5

Excellent tubeless tyres

- Mike, 2 April, 2019

Pros & Cons

Comfortable

Super product that are really easy to fit and feel very good on the road.

- Paddy, 25 March, 2019

I am really happy with GP5000TL. They were very easy to fit on my Dura-Ace C24 TL wheels. They inflated first time with a foot pump. On the road I find them very comfortable. Also they don't loose any pressure over time. All in all very happy with this purchase.
