Description

Description

The Continental Contact Speed tyres are the perfect choice for trekking bikes for all conditions. The light diamond profile offer enough grip in dry and wet conditions. The lightweight design make them run smoothly and they have great rolling resistance. The SafetySystem Breaker layer protects against punctures. Available in different sizes.

Technology

The SafetySystem Breaker layer consists of Kevlar and a strong nylon fabric. Puncture and rip resistant, but still light and flexible. Without more weight or more rolling resistance the carcass still protects against sharp objects and contributes to the durability of the tyre. Tyres with the SafetySystem Breaker are also very comfortable.

Insufficient wet grip

- Bart 1 April 2024

Replaced worn-out rear tyre (SpeedKing) with this cheaper ContactSpeed. Crashed on 1st ride in the wet. Far too little grip, this tyre is going off my bike. Better to spend a few extra tens for a better rubber compound with more grip, more safety and less damage to skin and clothing.

Pros & Cons

Not expensive
Runs light
Too little grip

Very nice tyre at a very good price

- Rutger 6 December 2023

The tyre is easy to fit and has very low rolling resistance. Steers easier at higher speeds (25/35 km/h) than at lower speeds (10/15 km/h). I notice no difference in grip between wet and dry weather. Even when steering hard, the tyre remains stable. A very small downside (if you can call it that) is that the tyre is very sensitive to tyre pressure. As soon as the pressure drops (below 3 bar), the tyre starts 'searching'. But as long as I keep them between 4 and 5 bar, there is nothing wrong.

Pros & Cons

Good grip in dry and wet weather
Light rolling resistance
Stable, does not sag when cornering
Very sensitive to tyre pressure
