The Park Tool PP-1.2 Brake pad spreader is the ideal tool for replacing and correcting your disc brake pads.
Piston spreaders
You use this tool to push the pistons of your hydraulic disc brakes back into the caliper. The force you apply must be evenly distributed over the whole surface of the piston. The piston must slide straight back into the calliper. Using a screwdriver or other tool for this job is very risky and can permanently damage the system.
Inadvertently squeezing the brake lever
Worn brake pads are easy to replace yourself and this tool will come in handy! The Park Tool disc brake press can also be used if you accidentally squeeze the brake lever while the wheel is off the bike. The piston will come out of the caliper in this case. The PP-1.2 enlarges the space between the brake blocks and ensures that the brake disc fits well between them again.
