Pros & Cons
Pros & Cons
- Absolute Downhill tyre or MTB front tyre with good cornering grip on soft, muddy and dry surfaces.
- With an Exo Protection layer for extra protection against damage from sharp objects.
- The MaxxTerra interlayer is softer and provides more traction and less rolling resistance than other compounds.
- Features a double 120 TPI casing layer with a butyl insert for more puncture resistance without sacrificing speed.
- Suitable for tubeless: a quick solution to punctures when combined with latex sealant.
- This tyre is not suitable for Trail and XC use.
- Maxxis recommends that Maxxis Minion DHF WT 2.50 inch tyres should only be mounted on rims with an internal rim width between 30 and 35mm.

The Maxxis Minion DHF front tyre combines the smooth knobs of a Downhill tyre with the puncture protection qualities of Exo Protection technology. This makes the Maxxis Minion DHF a relatively easy-rolling tyre with good grip on soft, muddy surfaces and in corners. It's perfect for use on courses with varying conditions. This makes the Maxxis Minion DHF an excellent choice for Downhill and Enduro circuits with long descents and long climbs.
The Maxxis Minion DHF is also a good choice for tracks where there is a high risk of tyre punctures, because the Exo Protection technology gives the tyre maximum puncture protection. Exo Protection is a cut-resistant and wear-resistant protective layer in the sidewall of the tyre. This compactly woven material offers excellent protection against stones, gravel, tree trunks and other sharp objects that might damage the tyre.

(EXO) Protection.
A material that is highly resistant to cuts and extremely abrasion-resistant has been added to the tyre's sidewalls. This densely woven fabric is lightweight and highly flexible, without negatively affecting the tyre's performance. Choose tyres with EXO protection for exceptionally rocky, treacherous trails where the likelihood of sidewall cuts or damage is very high.
(EXO+) Protection
Tyres with EXO+ technology have the best sidewall protection against external damage. Additional rubber-coated EXO material has been added to the sidewalls, along with a short butyl insert above each bead. Compared to the previous version, the new EXO+ has almost twice as much puncture resistance in the tread and sidewalls, plus about 20% more resistance to tearing. There is a slight weight increase with the new EXO+, about 1%-5%, depending on the tread pattern.
(3C) MaxxTerra
The 3C MaxxTerra is the middle rubber compound, in terms of hardness, of Maxxis' Triple Maxx Compounds. The 3C MaxxTerra is softer and offers more traction than the MaxxSpeed, but is also more durable and faster than the MaxxGrip. This gives you the best of both worlds.
(DD) DoubleDown
DoubleDown represents a two-layer 120 tpi carcass with a butyl insert. This keeps the weight down for enduro, but offers the protection of a downhill tyre. So this gives you the perfect combination of protection, stability and weight.
(TR) Tubeless Ready
The Maxxis Minion DHF is tubeless-ready. This allows you to ride without a tube. This has all kinds of advantages. The main advantages are lower rolling resistance, more grip, control and extra comfort.
