- These bearings are easy to maintain thanks to the smoothly running cup-conus system. Runs fantastically and is more durable than industrial bearings.
- Can be used with tubes and tubeless!
- This wheelset's code doesn't immediately indicate Ultegra, but its quality is at Ultegra level.

The change in the Shimano RS500 isn't just cosmetic: the wheelset also comes with a tubeless rim and tubeless valves to lower rolling resistance. Riding tubeless minimises the chance of flat tyres, and massively increases your comfort levels because you can ride with lower tyre pressures.

Installing a cassette on a wheel is easy if you have the right tools. If you purchase a cassette remover with a Shimano fit, you will be able to mount either a Shimano or Sram cassette on your rear wheel. If you have a Shimano 9/10-speed cassette, first slide the spacer over the body. Then you place the cassette on the body. This can only be done in one way because of the fit of the body. Finally you turn the washer straight on by hand and tighten it with the cassette tool. Cassettes aren’t easily overtightened, but if you want you can use a torque wrench for this.
• For 10-speed, do not forget to mount the spacer first before installing the cassette.
• The rim bed comes suitable for riding tubeless.

If you can do without the prestige, you’ll get unbeatable value for money.
I bought this set for my commuter bike and I haven’t been this pleased with a purchase for a long time. On delivery, I couldn’t detect any vertical or lateral runout, and all the spokes were equally tensioned. After about 500 km on ‘good’ German country roads, I reckon it’ll stay that way for a while yet. The surface finish on all the parts is also extremely high quality. The wheels come with spoke wrenches, quick-release skewers and the spacer for 10-speed cassettes. The tubeless valves are already fitted and rim tape isn’t needed – so you don’t have to worry about a thing. The freehub is so quiet that you can’t even hear it yourself when riding into a headwind or at high speeds. This does, of course, cost you a bit of speed, but it’s certainly a pleasant feature for many people around you. These wheels are good value for money in the truest sense of the word.
