Tyres that deliver the seemingly impossible combination of speed, grip and puncture resistance

- Johannes 16 June 2026

I have the 36mm version of this tyre. It’s a great size for light gravel and forest trails. Hopefully it’ll be back in stock soon. Because weight is often overlooked these days, but it’s actually still very important. The quality of the casing on handmade Challenge tyres is exceptional. Supple, fast and comfortable. What really stands out with this tyre is that the tread provides exceptional grip, which has sometimes proved to be the weak point with other Challenge tyres. Especially on wet tarmac. This is due to the harder compound used for the tread. You sacrifice some grip but gain in puncture resistance. But with this tread pattern, a good solution has been found for that.

Pros & Cons

Comfortable
Flexible
Grip
Puncture-resistant

4 / 5

Good tyres that work well in dry conditions on a mix of tarmac and gravel.

- Jonathan 31 October 2024

Installed these, setup tubeless on my cyclocross bike. Tyres were easy to install though I did do it twice as the first time while seated, both tyres deflated over approx 48 hours, even with plenty of sealant. Second time worked much better. Tyres work well in dry conditions and are pretty quick on the road due to the relatively low level of grip on the centre band. They are somewhat slippery in muddy conditions but this is probably as a result of the flat centre band.

Pros & Cons

Decent grip in dry conditions
Easy to install tubeless
Minimal resistance on roads
Poor grip in muddy conditions

Top band

- Chris 17 December 2022

Top tire, but you have to put it around the rim with Swalbe's tire levers. Then it goes by itself without puncturing the tube.

Pros & Cons

Good grip
Little rolling resistance
Nice appearance
Can't get around the rim!
