Pros & Cons

Pros & Cons

  • The Challenge Gravel Grinder Pro TLR is an all-round tyre suitable for fine gravel roads and dry forest terrains.
  • These tyres are Tubeless, which makes them very puncture resistant on bad gravel roads.
  • These classic looking tubular tyres will make your bike look great.
  • Its cotton carcass makes this tyre extra supple compared to other tubeless gravel tyres.
  • The profile on these tyres may not provide enough grip on wet and muddy terrains.

4 / 5

Good tyres that work well in dry conditions on a mix of tarmac and gravel.

- Jonathan 31 October 2024

Installed these, setup tubeless on my cyclocross bike. Tyres were easy to install though I did do it twice as the first time while seated, both tyres deflated over approx 48 hours, even with plenty of sealant. Second time worked much better. Tyres work well in dry conditions and are pretty quick on the road due to the relatively low level of grip on the centre band. They are somewhat slippery in muddy conditions but this is probably as a result of the flat centre band.

Pros & Cons

Decent grip in dry conditions
Easy to install tubeless
Minimal resistance on roads
Poor grip in muddy conditions

5 / 5

Top band

Top tire, but you have to put it around the rim with Swalbe's tire levers. Then it goes by itself without puncturing the tube.

Pros & Cons

Good grip
Little rolling resistance
Nice appearance
Can't get around the rim!
