With the Checkpoint ALR 5, Trek has designed a gravel bike that is ready for many off-road adventures. With its quality frame, gravel-specific parts and good geometry, it will be your trusted companion on many rugged yet comfortable rides.
The heart of this gravel bike is its lightweight aluminium frame, whose geometry ensures stable handling on the straight as well as agility at low speeds. The cables are integrated into the frame, where they are well protected from splashing gravel and other dirt. The Checkpoint comes with a carbon fork, which handles bumps and potholes well to ensure you are in control of the bike at all times, even at high speeds.
Gravel-specific drivetrain
Trek has selected the Shimano GRX drivetrain for the Checkpoint ALR 5. This drivetrain was specially made for gravel riding and offers highly reliable shifting performance. With 22 gears and an 11-34 cassette you have a wide gearing range for smooth riding even on steep gravel sections. For braking you have Shimano hydraulic disc brakes, which deliver high braking power in easy to hard conditions. They are also easy to modulate to allow for controlled cornering.
Versatility
The Trek Checkpoint ALR 5 is a versatile gravel bike with a huge choice of tyre widths; it can accommodate tyres up to 45c. The bike's rims are tubeless ready to allow you to switch to a tubeless setup. Tubeless riding decreases rolling resistance and increases puncture protection. Finally, this Checkpoint model also comes with several mounting points for racks and frame bags.
