KMC X12 Waxed Chain

This chain comes pre-waxed, which means it's ready to be put on your bike immediately. Standard chains come with a thick type of oil, which gathers dirt, so it'll start clumping quickly. The benefit of chain waxes is that the chain won't gather dirt, lengthening the lifespan of the chain and your entire drivetrain.

Usage
The KMC Waxed chain is a robust, high-end choice for Shimano and almost every SRAM 12-speed gear shifting system. Thanks to its nickel-plated links, this chain is highly resistant to wear, ensuring a long lifespan. Plus, this chain was cut with great precision, which contributes to smooth, efficient gear shifting. The KMC X12 comes with a KMC Missing Link, which means you can easily install and remove this chain for maintenance.

Use missing link pliers
This chain comes with a missing link. Using a missing link makes it very easy to fit your chain, and is also ideal when you want to thoroughly clean your bike. To open and close this missing link, you'll need missing link pliers, which you can find here.

Shorten your chain with a chain breaker tool
When you buy a new chain, it's always longer than necessary, so you'll have to make it fit yourself. You'll need a chain breaker tool to break the chain in order to shorten it. You can find our chain breaker tools here. Do make sure you choose a chain breaker tool suitable for the correct speed.

Mounting tips!
When installing or removing a chain, we recommend removing the tension from the part of your chain where you break it. To do this, you can make a hook out of an old spoke, though some chain breaker tools also come with a convenient hook. Hook this through the part of the chain you want to work on, which locally removes the tension from the chain.

Regularly measure wear
You can use a chain checker to find out when your chain is worn out, so you can replace it in time. You can find these chain checkers here.
