Comfort, safety, and a beautifully sleek look. The Bontrager Velocis MIPS features numerous updates over its predecessor. The safety of the MIPS system has been added, as well as a highly adjustable BOA retention system. The Velocis has been known for years as being a lightweight road bike helmet which is hugely comfortable and with excellent cooling properties. This generation is no different. Comfort, safety and a beautiful, sophisticated look - what more could you ask for?
The new design runs along to the back of the head considerably further than the previous iteration. This not only increases the protection to the back of your head, but increases user comfort as well. It also improves the aerodynamics of the helmet. The Velocis can even take on some of the dedicated aero helmets from other brands. The air vents in the Velocis MIPS provide you with all the cooling air you need, and make this the perfect helmet for long days in the saddle or racing in warm conditions.
BOA retention system
The unique and new helmet-specific BOA system enables you to easily and precisely tune the fit using just a single hand. BOA retention systems have been used successfully in a number of Bontrager shoes. This system will soon prove its worth in helmet retention systems as well. The 37.5 Fit padding and removable NeoVisor are another 2 great additions. The padding moves any moisture away from your skine while the NeoVisor doubles as a cycling cap, but without the added fabric under your helmet.
MIPS System
The MIPS system is a low-friction layer between the EPS core and the padding, which uses an array of elasticated attachments. This allows the helmet to move slightly during a crash (rotate and slide) in relation to your head, thereby absorbing more of the forces caused by said crash. This additional movement is an improvement over the regular helmets, as they only absorb the forces of an impact by compressing the EPS core.

Very comfortable.

Looks good, it’s really comfortable. I’ve not been riding long so can’t really judge if it’s too heavy but I like it. Only slight down side is I think it looks a bit big when wearing it.
