Maxxis Mountain Bike Tyres - The Perfect Tyre for Any Terrain

15 February 2017

Good news for enthusiastic mountain bikers. We’ve recently added a brand beloved by many pros to our range: Maxxis. Anyone looking for something different to the regular Schwalbe’s or Vittoria’s and who wants something high-end simply can’t ignore the Maxxis mountain bike tyres. All of their models are high quality tyres suitable for a host of different conditions.

Most people tend to stick to what they know, and the same goes for us mountain bikers. We look at other riders to see what they’re using and often decide to play it safe by doing the same. So why would you buy Maxxis tyres?

Maxxis Tyres

The fact that the tyres are marginally heavier than other tyres is easily compensated by their superior performance. Once you’ve given them a try, you really don’t want to go back.

Why Maxxis Tyres?

The Maxxis tyres are perfect for mountain bikers at any level, and they offer tyres suitable for any surface. Rocks? Not an issue. Fine sand? Bring it on. Downhill at full speed? Why not!

Maxxis Mountain Bike Tyres

The tyres are a frequent choice with the pros as well even though they’re a little heavier than most of the popular Schwalbe tyres. The 100 grams which are added by the Maxxis tyres to your bike are easily compensated by other properties which are far more important to your ride.

The grip, low rolling resistance, and durability of the tyre are all points at which the Maxxis tyres shine. Those extra couple of grams shouldn’t be considered ballast then, but rather worth their weight in gold when it comes to performance!

Maxxis Ardent

The full collection of Maxxis tyres is vast. This is why we’ve made a selection of tyres which will work both at home and abroad, for instance in the Ardennes or Alpes.

The Maxxis Ardent is the all-round mountain bike tyre by Maxxis. The large and pronounced knobs on the sides make sandy corners a breeze. If you make sure your bike stays upright, the Ardent will make sure you come flying out the other end.

You can also run it at a low pressure without having to worry about the sidewalls. The addition of their own EXO protection makes them perfectly capable of surviving anything you might come across. Naturally, the Ardent is tubeless ready.

Maxxis Ardent Race

Looking for the qualities of the Ardent, but in need of more speed? The Ardent Race answers your prayers. The same great properties as the regular Ardent, but with a less pronounced tread pattern.

Maxxis mountain bike tyres allow you to tackle the toughest terrains with confidence.

The main tread is a little harder to eek out as much speed as possible. This gives the tyre a little less grip in the corners, but it does mean you’ll blast past your mates on the straights.

So it’s up to you to decide where you’ll make a difference. Naturally, the Ardent Race boasts the same protected sidewalls with the EXO protection, and it’s tubeless ready as well.

Maxxis Ikon

Perhaps the most loved tyre in the Maxxis range is the Maxxis Ikon. This tyre is particularly well-liked by the pros as it’s capable enough to do well on any surface.

These tyres too are tubeless ready and use the same sidewall-protection technology as the Ardent tyres.

You can find me on a bicycle almost every day. I commute each day from my house to work and back. Often on my road bike, and during the winter on an old crosser. And if that isn't enough, you can find me on my bike during most weekends too. On my trusty road bike or my mountainbike. And if you can't find me outdoors riding my bike, odds are I might be riding on Zwift
