Compose your own Sram Eagle XX1 groupset, because every mountain biker is different! Colour, shifters, cassette, chain, type of crank and the bearings to go with it, Boost compatibility or not- it's all up to you, and there's plenty to choose from.
Taking it up a notch was taken seriously by Sram, as the Sram XX1 Eagle is the first 1x12 speed groupset. The XX1 Eagle groupset is tougher, quieter, more durable and more accurate than before. The extra gear adds a little it of weight over the 11-speed groupset, but still comes in well below a double drive train. The perfect groupset for cross country racers!
The Sram XX1 Eagle groupset has been developed based on the technology and construction of the well-known XX1 and X01 groupsets, with technology such as the X-Horizon rear derailleur, carbon cranks with Direct Mount chain rings, and single-piece cassettes. The golden Sram XX1 Eagle groupset has 2 Olympic gold medals on its conto already: in Rio both Nino Schurter and Jenny Rissveds had the honour of climbing onto the highest step of the podium.
The Eagle cassette has the same gears as the 11 speed cassette, plus a 50t sprocket. The cassette looks like this: 10t, 12t, 14t, 21t, 24t, 28t, 32t, 36t, 42t, 50t. Only the largest chainring is made of aluminium, the rest is produced out of one piece of CNC steel. The 12-speed cassette fits the existing XD driver. This means that the chainrings are closer together, and the chain is narrower too.
The X-Horizon rear derailleur design is adjusted to work with the large cassette. The cage is a little bit longer and the bottom pulley has 14 teeth instead 12. The Roller Bearing Clutch is more refined and offers a more constant force across the range of the cage.
X-Sync 2 is the name for SRAM’s new version of the narrow-wide profile. The teeth of the chainrings are higher and have diagonal cuts in all directions. This should allow the chain to be quieter and reduce friction under sharply angled chain lines. Besides the optimisation of the profile of the front chainrings, SRAM also looked at the chain itself with the aim to reduce noise. The inside of the inner link is completely rounded off. No more sharp angles. This results in more free room and that it easier for the chain to engage and disengage from the teeth on the chainrings.
