The Shimano XC shoe range has been completely redesigned. The Shimano XC7 was developed in conjunction with Boa and Michelin. Boa supplied the IP1 system which allows you to quickly and easily adjust the fit. Michelin offered their extensive knowledge on rubber compounds when Shimano developed the sole. The compound used ensures you have an enormous amount of grip, while the sole is also very light and durable. The upper is made using synthetic leather, while the insole is carbon fiber. Because of all this, the Shimano XC7 is a race-ready mountain bike or cyclocross shoe comfortable enough to use every day.

Extensive explanation size in cm
The size denoted in cm tells you how long the shoe is. This size was taken on the inside of the shoe measuring from the heel to the toes. In order to determine what size you’ll need, you can measure your own foot. Do this by placing a piece of paper on the floor tucked against the wall. Stand on the paper with your heel against the wall. Draw a line at your big toe. Measure the distance between that and the wall, and add approximately 5 mm. The number of centimeters is the size in centimeters found on our website. Which specific EU/UK size you need can differ between brands. This is because each brand uses their own boot tree, causing the shoe to be bigger or smaller than the size would suggest. This is why we’ve added the size in centimeters for all of our shoes. We’ve also categorised our shoes in three different groups: narrow, medium, and wide. In order to determine the width of your foot, you can use this table. Read all about it on our blog!

Good looking, light and stiff

- Craig 5 March 2019

Very nice pair of shoes. I got the red pair which might not be to everyone's taste but IMHO they are a very good looking pair of shoes. More importantly though, they are light, stiff and comfortable. Sizing is as per other Shimano shoes I've had (I take a size 48 Shimano shoe vs UK size 11.5 to 12 in normal shoes). Only niggle is that the boa laces on the left shoe do work themselves slightly loose sometimes. However, it's easy to tighten them up again on the move so it isn't a big deal really.

Pros & Cons

Good looking
Light
Stiff
Boa laces can work loose

Initial impressions-stiff, light and comfortable

- Matthew 3 May 2018

I have only worn these for a couple of training rides up to three hours so far but first impressions are very good. Smart shoe, pretty stiff and comfortable. I plan to use for a 24 hour solo ride soon but feel confident so far. I’m a size 10 UK normally and sized up based on reviews but he 9.5 fits well and the 10.5 was too big

Pros & Cons

Light
Look racey
Stiff
Fastening device looks vulnerable (no issues yet)

Very very good, not excellent

- Paul 13 January 2017

Really nice shoe, generally a very good fit, really good stiff sole and look amazing. The only fault I have with them is that they are slightly too big at the back/heel that allows a slight bit of movement in this area. There is no way to make this tighter so I'll just have to see how much it rubs on the longer rides

Pros & Cons

Great fit at the front
Looks
Stiff sole
Very well made
Like my wife- too large at the rear

Pros & Cons

Heel cup is slightly big but I have narrow feet
