The Shimano Dura Ace R9200 C50 bicycle wheels have a 28 mm external rim width, which makes them suitable for use with 25 mm or wider tyres. This has improved aerodynamics significantly. The combination of the 1:1 spokes pattern and 1.5 mm spoke thickness increases stiffness, and the Direct Engagement hub is intended to ensure high responsiveness when accelerating.
Handling
The Shimano Dura Ace C50 wheels feel super comfortable on your bike. Whereas other high carbon wheels may require some getting used to in terms of stability in windy conditions and on descents, the Shimano Dura Ace wheels feel just right from the start. You hardly notice that you are riding with 50 mm wheels; they respond instantly with each acceleration and are perfect for climbing even with their 50 mm height. Likewise, during descents at high speeds there is no nervous sensation at all, and the wheels respond directly when cornering.
Aerodynamics
Shimano has reduced the drag of the Dura Ace R9270 C50 significantly, partly by opting for a wide rim profile with a 28 mm external rim width. Compared to Shimano's Dura Ace R9100 C40 wheels, an impressive 5.1 watts of drag has been gained compared to a lower rim. In addition, another 1 watt has been gained compared to the Shimano Dura Ace R9100 C60 tubular wheels. These gains have been achieved while maintaining other characteristics such as stiffness, comfort and control.
Stiffness
To increase stiffness, the front wheel has a 1:1 spokes pattern. Also, stronger spokes with a 1.5 mm thickness are used to optimise stiffness without compromising on weight. The stiffer handling is further enhanced by the improved direct pedal feel during acceleration. For this purpose, the Direct Engagement system was developed and included in the rear hub. Plus, power transfer is 63% more efficient in these wheels.
Weight
When it comes to rotational mass, every gram counts. Although the rims are now significantly wider, the team at Shimano have managed to make them lighter than their predecessors. A set of Shimano Dura Ace R9200 C50 wheels comes to a total weight of 1400 grams, then. You will feel this immediately when accelerating, climbing or riding at a steady speed with your Shimano Dura Ace wheels.

5 / 5
op wheels with the perfect balance between weight, stiffness and aerodynamics - I recommend
I ordered the Shimano Dura-Ace R9200 C50 wheels from Mantel and am absolutely delighted. The delivery was fast and the packaging was professional. The wheels are extremely stiff, very light and run incredibly smoothly. They really come into their own on flat stretches and at high speeds - perfect aerodynamics combined with very good acceleration. They remain stable and predictable even in crosswinds. Ideal for training rides and races.
