I have been riding Aerothan tyres and their predecessors (EVO tubes made from Aerothan) for years. These newer Aerothan tyres are super lightweight (92 g for 29 inches instead of the specified 87 g). You can also ride with low pressure due to their shape retention and these tubes have low rolling resistance. In short, the best alternative to tubeless. Only disadvantage is that after 2-3 years or so, the inner valve comes out of the shaft and the valve is no longer reliable (leaks slightly). The tyre then needs replacing.

Unfortunately, this proved unsuccessful. Thread of the valve core did not stay in the valve after a few pumps. Probably the plastic threads are not as strong as those made of metal/alu.

After 2 rides, the tyre was taken out and inflated, but the inner tube remained hard and went through a water tank, so there was no puncture.

Aerothan hoses have an enormous weight advantage over conventional hoses, but are still very puncture-proof. A little tip on the weak point: I glue the plastic valve seat with Loctide, otherwise it sometimes leaks.

It's an alternative to tubeless. I used to have tubeless, but it's time-consuming and clogs everything up, especially the valve. That's why an Aerothane tube is the best alternative

This inner tube is really tremendously light. Cycling experience is good.

The weight is great. But I had a slow puncture after the first 5 kilometres. A thorn pierced through the tyre and the inner tube. The inner tube can only be repaired with special patches. For the price, two patches could be included.

Fitted the Aerothan after puncture-ridden conventional interior in French Provence. Used for the first time. Had two Aerothans with me because they fit easily in the SWAT box. Was fiddling a bit with the valve because it is short and cannot be secured with a screw. This causes you to push the valve inwards (depending on pump type). Otherwise, the impression is very good. Saves more than 100 Gram with normal inside. In my experience, this could be felt in riding. Tyre maintains its pressure and has not been punctured so far (under unfriendly conditions). Price just about acceptable due to hefty discount from Mantel.

Rolls absolutely super, huge difference to the normal hoses. My expectations have been completely exceeded. Very easy to mount. You can ride with very low air pressure (29 inch CC bike).

Useless is putting it mildly, on my first bike ride in the neighbourhood (98% asphalt, 2% park) I got a puncture. I hope the patch holds.

They puncture easily and if you try to repair them, the adhesive patch does not hold.

I've got it as a spare tube in case my tubeless tires fail. It's small, lightweight and seems very durable.

Taking a spare tyre with you is easier because of the packing size, no problem with putting it on and weight also makes a difference

Tricky to fit because they are smaller than the outer tyre. The job is similar to a 26" latex and a 29" outer tyre. As for longevity, I've only just started using them. So I don't know that yet.

If you like to cycle with a slightly lower tyre pressure in your (mtb) tyres, tubeless is often the way to go. Advantages: lower tyre pressure means more comfort and grip and better resistance to punctures. Disadvantages: you need to put a sealant in your tyres which often results in a deddle and, in case of large holes, a bi-tire often needs to be put in en route. These disadvantages in particular often cause annoyance. The Aerothan bi-band solves these drawbacks very quickly. You use the Aerothan exactly as you would use a normal inner tube, but because the Aerothan is much stronger, it has the same advantages as a tubeless system; i.e. it can be ridden with a low pressure, it is more resistant to punctures, etc. Before people start saying "I'm not going back to those old-fashioned inner tubes", I took the liberty of comparing. The amount of sealant needed for your wheels is heavier than 2 Aerothon inner tubes. Especially when it comes to mtb tyres. And then the plastic valve is the heaviest part of the Aerothon inner tube..... Sure, you can still puncture with it. Just like with any other system. It's still a pneumatic tyre, after all. But as an alternative to sticky junk that has to go into your tyres, rim strips that sometimes take on a life of their own and loose valves that don't always seal as well, the Aerothan is excellent alternative.
