For me, this is a top saddle. Never anything else!

After a long search due to saddle pain, I ended up with this brooks saddle. I ordered it on Sunday evening and it arrived on Monday afternoon. Just as well, because our cycling holiday started the next day. The first few days I had to get used to the hardness of the saddle. It was as if the leather had to get used to me as well, because after breaking in the saddle, it was completely mine. No pain or sore or sweaty feeling. Cycled wonderfully. About 70 km a day. With luggage and without electric assistance!

Because my bike was stolen my fine old brooks saddle was also gone! So I bought a new one. An aged model, which was said to be less hard. It's a nice saddle, but still very hard. It is no different, I have to sit it in....

Comfortable, but it creaks between the frame and the seatpost.

Grease between the frame and the seat post did not help. Insulating tape brought a clear improvement, but the noise has not gone away yet. The next step is to put a piece of bicycle hose in the clamp connection. This should (hopefully) solve the problem. At least we were able to identify the cause. The frame is coated black and has a very rough surface. I suspect that this is the cause.
