Avid mountain bikers who want a shoe with a good balance between performance and comfort should give the Northwave Razer 2 a try.
The Northwave Razer 2 is equipped with the Carbon XC 10 sole (stiffness index: 10.0). Performance and low weight come together in this sole. The sole is made of stiff material and has a minimalist design. The latter means that materials are only used where necessary. This guarantees maximum efficiency. Thanks to strategically placed TPU inserts, the XC 10 sole offers high traction and excellent abrasion resistance.
Unibody construction
These MTB shoes have a Unibody construction. This makes them one with the foot and pedal, providing more control and more effective power transfer. The strategically placed mesh inserts of this construction type ensure excellent breathability.
Excellent fit
The Northwave Razer 2 features both an SLW3 twist closure and a Velcro closure. This allows you to accurately adjust the fit of these MTB shoes. A simple turn of the knob is enough to change the fit. The lace connected to the SLW3 swivel closure runs asymmetrically across the shoe. This distributes pressure evenly across the instep, which contributes to the good fit and comfort level of this cycling shoe.
Reinforced toes and heel
The toes and heel have TPU reinforcements. This makes these areas more resistant to damage from obstacles such as rocks or branches. In other words, these reinforcements make the Northwave Razer 2 MTB shoes more durable.
In order to help you, as best we can, to choose the right size shoe we have measured all the shoes ourselves. All that's left for you to do is measure your own foot length, and we'll tell you which shoe size per brand suits you best. Does your foot length in mm not appear on the relevant product's page? Then that particular shoe is not available in a size that suits your foot length.
You can easily measure your foot length using an A4 sheet of paper, placed on the floor against a wall. Stand with one foot on the piece of paper, with your heel against the wall. Draw a line above your big toe (or above the index toe if that is longer). Now mark your other foot on the paper in the same way. Measure both - the measurement of your longest foot is your foot length in mm's! Please note: some manufacturers have their own measuring system, and as a result what appears on the shoebox can deviate from what we have measured.
What shoe size you need can differ per brand. This is because certain brands wear larger or smaller. To help you get the perfect fit, we've also classified the shoes as narrow, average, or wide fit. Read all about it in our blog!

Good entry level shoes
My first cycling shoes, maybe entry level for most experienced, but i like them. I feel them good on feet. Only regret is the color and pattern, very difficult to pair.

Comfortable shoe you can perform well with
Bought first mtb, so need shoes. Had positive experiences with Northwave on the road bike in the past and again these shoes fit great. The closure and Velcro straps allow the shoe to fit snugly around the foot. Stiffness of the sole is more than what I expected in this price range. My feet are slightly wider than average, which is fine with these shoes.
