Pros & Cons
Pros & Cons
- At 1540 grams, the Zipp 303 S Tubeless Disc Brake is light enough for uphill riding, but aerodynamic enough for downhill riding thanks to its 45 mm high rim.
- With an internal rim width of 23 mm, 28 mm tyres work best, with maximum aerodynamic benefits and the lowest rolling resistance.
- The Zipp 76/176 hubs are virtually maintenance-free, very reliable and continue to work well over the long term.
- Tubeless tyres can be fitted to the rims with or without inner tubes. This makes it possible to ride tubeless, with advantages such as lower rolling resistance, better grip and more comfort.
- The Zipp 303 S is only suitable for tubeless (ready) tyres at a maximum pressure of 5 bar, not for normal folding tyres.
- The 3-pawl body grips less quickly than, for example, a ratchet body.
- Only the following tyres can be fitted to these hookless rims with an internal rim width of 23 mm: Click here.

Tyre width recommended by Mantel | 29 to 45 mm |
The wide rim with an internal rim width of 23 mm allows the fitting of tyres from 25 mm to 50 mm. You won't find a more all-round wheelset; the 303S is suitable for road racing, gravel riding and even cyclocross. With an internal rim width of 23 mm, external rim width of 27 mm and a depth of 45 mm, the 303S saves 10 watts at a speed of 40 km/h compared to the "old" Zipp 302 Disc, according to internal wind tunnel tests.
The Zipp 303 S Tubeless Disc Brake wheels are built around Zipp 76/176 Disc Brake hubs and spoked with aerodynamic Sapim CX-Sprint spokes. The new wide carbon rims are tubeless ready, which means that you can ride with or without an inner tube. Tubeless riding with lower tyre pressure means lower rolling resistance, increased comfort and better grip.
Making your wheels tubeless has never been easier. The rims have been optimised for easy fitting without tools and no compressor is needed to fit the tyre. The wide hookless rims are also designed for lower tyre pressures, specifically in combination with a tubeless setup. Hence the maximum tyre pressure is "only" 5 Bar (72.2 PSI). The result is a larger contact area with the ground for more grip and manoeuvrability, on descents and when riding in wet conditions.
Zipp 76/176 hubs
These wheels are built from the trusted Zipp 76/176 hubs and feature low-maintenance, durable and well-sealed industrial bearings. The Zipp 76/176 hubs use a 3-pawl system.
Hookless rims
Zipp 303 S Tubeless Disc Brake rims are designed without hooks to hold the edge of the tyre. The pressure of your inner tube combined with the edge of the special 'hookless-compatible' outer tubes ensure that the tyre stays in place. This allows you to mount wider tyres, and you will experience less resistance. In short: more comfort and higher speed!
Zipp Lifetime Warranty
The Zipp Lifetime Warranty gives you a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects. This gives you ultimate security! The warranty becomes effective after registration of your wheel(s) with Zipp and is non-transferable.
If you want to ride with inner tubes, you can only do so when you use tubeless-ready tyres. These sit tighter around the rims than regular folding tyres.
• Tubeless rim tape
• Tubeless valves
• Centerlock lock ring

Pros & Cons

Price-quality top wheels with good service!
Unfortunately took ugly fall during ride where rear wheel zipp 303s was damaged. Because I understood that a crash replacement is offered by Zipp, I contacted Mantel. The handling went just flawlessly, received a free return label and after just under 2 weeks (after checking the damage) received a completely new one without extra payment. Makes the fall a little less painful financially at least. Really smooth service, thanks Mantel! And also the guarantee from Zipp itself, of course! Oh yes the wheels themselves ride just great for the price. And still look good
Pros & Cons

Fast set, especially when the tarmac is a little less.
In use for road bike, but still too short for long-term review. Positive first impression. Is fine fast set on the road. What stands out is a bizarrely positive difference when riding over a cobbled road or slightly less asphalt. That, in my eyes, is where the biggest gains lie. You fly over it! Still have to get used to the hookless concept myself, but I think that's more between my ears. We once thought the same about carbon frames and disc brakes ;) Setup was fine in any case (done it myself).
