Pros & Cons
Pros & Cons
- Carbon wheelset with a 65 mm rim height and an impressively low weight of 1460 grams!
- With a 31 mm outer rim width and a 23 mm inner rim width, these wheels are perfect to fit today's wide tyres.
- This aerodynamic wheelset has been extensively tested at the Silverstone Engineering Hub and also climbs well due to its low weight.
- The carbon spokes further reduce weight and optimise power transfer.
- The hubs are machined to 0.02 mm tolerances, ensuring that the ceramic bearings have less resistance and last longer.
- Carbon spokes are slightly more fragile in case of an impact but the set includes four spare spokes!

Carbon rims
The rim has been greatly improved by innovations in Elitewheels' UNI carbon fibre technology. It is now much wider, with an inner width of 23 mm and an outer width of 31 mm, without compromising on weight. In this way, Elitewheels also follows the recent trend of widening rims to allow for the use of wider tyres on road bikes. While this 31 mm rim is aerodynamically optimised for a 28 or 30 mm tyre, its high inner width also allows for wider tyres to be fitted without any problem. Through extensive aerodynamic testing, Elitewheels has reduced CdA by 2.84% compared to the first generation of Drive wheels. This means you will achieve a higher speed with the same effort. The rim has slightly smaller ETRTO-compliant hooks, combining aerodynamic properties of hookless wheels with the safety of traditional wheels.
Carbon spokes
The Elitewheels Drive 65D II uses flat aerodynamic spokes with a 4.5 mm width. Lab tests have shown that these spokes have 8% more lateral stiffness than regular spokes, increasing overall stiffness in the wheel and making power transfer more efficient.
Kinetic ratchet hub
Elitewheels' new kinetic ratchet hub is an improvement in several ways. The rear hub uses a conical 50-tooth ratchet ring for an extremely low engagement of 7.2 degrees and a larger contact area. A stronger spring minimises chances of skipping or slipping, and an improved waterproof seal increases ingress protection. As we have come to expect from Elitewheels, the hubs are machined to tolerances of 0.02 millimetres, ensuring that the ceramic bearings fall perfectly into the hubs for reduced resistance and improved durability.
GCN partner
Since 2024, Elitewheels has been a partner of Global Cycling Network, a well-known YouTube channel within the cycling world that provides information on the latest technologies used in bikes and bike parts. GCN conducts many product tests for different brands and has concluded that Elitewheels could fully meet their expectations.
• Tubeless rim tape (pre-applied)

A LOT OF value for money...
Purchased this wheelset for the real criterium races. The wheels immediately catch the eye because of their looks, many a head turn from crossing cyclists. The wheels are light, 604gr front wheel and 809gr rear wheel including the tubeless ribbon and valve, already pre-assembled on delivery. I personally have a tyre set of 28mm continental GP5000S TR on the rim and these come out at 30mm width. This makes for a fast comfortable ride despite the high rim. Tubeless very easily mounted on the rim. These wheels accelerate like the best, with the 52T ratchet hub you can and should expect this, every pedal stroke feels like a hit and once at speed it is child's play to keep the momentum going. In lateral wind, these wheels are surprisingly stable, light steering is necessary but not bothersome to undermine cycling enjoyment. Conclusion for me, if you are looking for a full competition worthy wheelset at a fraction of the price of the top brands, then these wheels are definitely worth considering. Even more so on Dutch roads than Belgian ones. You can hardly find better price/quality elsewhere. I can't yet say anything about the durability of the bearings, but I can confirm that they run very smoothly, without noticeable resistance or shortcomings, the ratchet in the rear wheel betrays that this is a full carbon setup... blissful sound. (in my opinion)
