MIPS Spherical is a refinement and evolution of the standard MIPS system. In this sophisticated design, MIPS technology is integrated between 2 layers of EPS foam. This system protects the brain from the rotational forces of a fall by allowing 10 to 15 millimetres of movement between the helmet and the head. As this system is located between 2 EPS foam layers, you can experience the benefits of MIPS without compromising comfort and cooling performance.
In-Mold Construction
The In-Mold Construction combines a sturdy polycarbonate outer shell with a shock-absorbing foam lining on the inside. Due to the fusing process it’s possible to create an efficient ventilation system, which allows the In-Mold helmets to be lighter and more cooling than traditional helmets.
Wind Tunnel Ventilation
Giro helmets were designed with the help of Giro’s Wind Tunnel ventilation system. This system combines active vents with internal exhausts. This combination provides the cyclist with cool, refreshing air on and around their head, while warm and stale air is disposed of. The innovation of these vents turned out to be a huge success. Cyclists were immensely positive about it, they noticed a new air flow around their head which kept them cool!

A life-saving helmet.
I was wearing this helmet when in my cycling peloton I hit a mate's rear wheel , overturned , ended up under my bike after my head hit the tarmac twice hard and was taken to hospital in the ambulance with a broken upper leg . The helmet suffered severe dents on two sides , but my head and neck were fine. When I regained consciousness after the operation, I immediately ordered the same helmet from Mantel. There is no better test !

Comfortable, well-made helmet
After my old helmet was already over 5 years old, it was time for something new. Since Giro helmets fit me well and I have already had good experiences with Giro in crashes, I decided on the Aether with Spherical Mips. It is also beautiful and well made. It also fit like a glove. As is typical for Giro, I found the straps a bit fiddly, but you don't do that very often. It is very comfortable to wear and the ventilation is top.
