Shimano Ultegra R8000

I purchased the 11-34 Ultegra R8000 cassette from Mantel to replace my current Ultegra 11-32 cassette. Good service and quick delivery. I do a fair bit of hill climbing and as I get older, I needed a little more help. I was concerned at first thinking that the gear ratios may be difficult to get use to. To be fair it is brilliant I love the ratios - the 30 tooth gear is ideal for most hills, saving the 34 tooth ratio for that really tough climb, or when I'm fading!

It's a cassette! It does exactly what it says on the tin. The range 11 to 30 is great. You might miss a ratio in the middle but it gives everything you should need at both ends of the spectrum.

I’m reasonably fit but don’t generate much power. Any sustained climbing over 7% burns me out leaving me wrecked on long runs. This cassette fixes that problem.

I'm not a cadence orthodox but still find the 2-teeth grading very smooth for climbing (I did some 20%+ gradients on my semi-compact) and descents. Though I did very litte flats b/c I intend to use it solely for the mountains. Still good piece of specialist kit.

Great cassette as its so close ration all the way to 21. Shame its not available in dura ace

Gives you all the range you need when the road points up. Super smooth shifts and no need to be riding around with a 28 as the largest sprocket anymore. If you have standard Ultegra r8000 rear derailleur that should be fine, just new chain only.

I use this 11-30 cassette with 52-36 at front and Di2 RD 8050 SS. I'm sure that the Gear Position Control witch prevents to shift into the 2 smallest sprockets allows calculate the chain capacity of RD like: 52-36 + 30-13 = 33 (the chain capacity of RD SS)

Ive ridden my bike far mire tgan usual during lockdiwn, 6000km in 3 minths, so i thought i should invest ina new cassette even though the old one was only 8 months old. I added a new chain two as i replace a chain ever 2 to 3 months. Wow, whar a difference. Shifting is properly crisp and smooth.

Even though my bike has an Ultegra groupset, I normally use 105 cassettes as they are cheaper and only a few grams heavier, but with Mantel's competitive pricing I can get this for the same price as a 105 cassette from other suppliers.

I’ve got 3 sets of ratios and they are all fantastically made & work very well on both mechanical Di2 bikes, if there’s was any fault is not being able to get quite the spread of gears I want as a close ratio set

I do not understand why they sell so many bikes with the silly 11-30 cassettes - it just means that 11-12-13 sprockets are a waste of money since hardly anyone is strong enough to use them. 14-28 gives you far better range of gears and the one step change for most of the cogs works far better so you get exacty the right gear for the way your legs are feeling.

Lovely quality cassette, very little difference to my last Dura ace unit, just slightly heavier and not quite as bling, the change from 11-28 to 11-30 has been great as the 11-21 block remains identical (11,12,13,14,15,17,19,21) and only the lower 3 gears being 1 or 2t different, great service and price from Mantel. Took about 3 days from ordering to been delivered by UPS (I'm UK based). Thanks

This 14 -28 ratio I am very occasional under geared but it is the most useful ratio with no unused or rarely used sprockets.

Beautiful piece of engineering that will last a very long time if looked after. I have been using Shimano products for over 40 years and they are bullet proof.

I find the individual gear changes more comfortable than, for example, the 11/32.

It's shimano ultegra it does t get much better than this , 99% of the performance of dura ace but less than half the price. Quality.
