Description
Description
This pedal has an aluminium pedal body, which keeps the weight low and increases durability. This pedal body has six adjustable pins for plenty of grip. It is built around Crankbrothers' famed clip system and can move freely. The clip system as well as the pedal body have an open structure, ensuring that dirt and mud are well disposed of.
The Crankbrothers Mallet E LS is an ideal pedal for demanding Trail and Enduro cyclists. As the open structure prevents dirt and mud from getting stuck, you can shred the trails even in the most extreme circumstances!

If the release force could be adjusted, this pedal would be almost perfect.
Correctly adjusted (height of cleats and pedal pins), you have a very flat pedal-like stance when clicked in and not as punctual/metallic as with most other systems. The mechanism works smoothly. However, I personally find clicking in sufficiently defined. Unclicking, on the other hand, is very easy, which I still have to get used to. The good thing is that you can get out of the binding much quicker than with spd, for example. However, if you use the float range in turns and work with the foot rotation, it can quickly happen that you accidentally click out, as the resistance is soft and rather undefined. However, the forward and backward clicks make it very easy to click back in even in the middle of the trail. Unfortunately, the brass cleats wear out very quickly. After just one ride, you can already see significant wear on them. Crankbrothers should definitely offer something more durable here! If you prefer a flat pedal-like stance and a rather soft engagement and disengagement behaviour, I can highly recommend the Mallet E!

Just right
Very good pedals.

Great trail pedal
Coming from an old set of eggbeaters, these have the same long spindle length but more support. They’re just as easy to clip in and out of.
Pros & Cons
5 / 5
Perfect support, nice float and easy snap on and off
Pedals like them very much, was looking for a bit more support that with Shimano spd and also just a bit more leeway with foot on pedal and in addition better resistance to mud, well that's succeeded with these pedals despite being well engaged very easy to click out at small angle.

Easy to get on with, nice cleat release mechanism
