Description

Description

These Shimano J03A Resin disc brake pads are 40% more durable than the previous version, the Shimano J02A Resin disc brake pads. This durability has been achieved without compromising the quick engagement and low noise produced by these brake pads. The cooling fins also provide improved heat dissipation, ensuring continued sufficient braking power even on long descents.

Organic compound
Organic brake pads consist of soft materials, which give them excellent modulation and braking power, and make them engage quickly and produce little noise during braking.
The downside of organic brake pads is that they do not manage higher temperatures which may develop during long descents, for example, very well. While the addition of cooling fins has already proven to improve this aspect, organic brake pads remain less heat resistant than brake pads with a harder, (semi-)metallic compound. Also, harder brake pads remain more wear-resistant than the organic J03A Resin disc brake pads.

In short, if you often cycle in (relatively) flat areas and in dry weather, the J03A brake pads are an excellent choice. They will also perform well on descents in low mountain ranges, although they will wear more quickly, so remember to bring a spare set if you're going to cycle for several days.
If you're going to be riding in muddy conditions or know you're going to have to do a lot of braking, we recommend considering brake pads with a semi-metallic or metallic compound.

Note:
Manufacturers use different sizes and fits. Make sure that the shape of the brake pad in the image corresponds with your current brake pad. Not sure what shape your brake pads are? Scroll down on this page to where you find which brake pad is suited for which type of brake.

Top remblokken

- Sake 22 June 2023

Doen wat ze moeten doen, geen bijgeluiden. Voor dat we MTBen in de Vogezen voor en achter vervangen, met deze remblokken geen rem problemen.

5 / 5

- Patrick 14 November 2021

The resin pads last longer than thought. Or I don't brake so much. As befits resin, they are quiet during braking. The J03A are for the 2-pot calipers. Unfortunately, the N03A (for the 4-pot calipers) are not available from Mantel.

Pros & Cons

Brakes well
Low wear for a resin block
Quiet
More expensive than without fins

Topper against squeaking

- Frans 11 September 2021

Squeaky brakes; so annoying. After replacing the metal brake pads, the squeaking is gone. Could be coincidence, of course, but my ears are happy.

Pros & Cons

Less squeaky brakes.
