Aluminium is practical, even if it leaves marks. At least it doesn't break as quickly as plastic when dropped or shocked.

Great cheap sturdy aluminium bottle cage. Have already ridden 1500km with it and water bottles always stay in place. Unfortunately, it does now have paint on water bottles and the paint is already off on the frequently used parts
