Pros
The low weight makes these wheels highly suitable for climbing. |
The cup cone bearings are very durable and easy to maintain. |
The asymmetric rim design used in the rear wheel provides a high degree of stability. |
These wheels definitely win the beauty award for their shiny carbon rims and simplicity in decals. |
Due to the rim height of 40mm, the Wind 40C wheels are very versatile; high enough for aerodynamic advantage, but low enough for use on windy roads. |
The sealed industrial bearings in these wheels run smoothly and at the same time are well sealed against water and dirt. |
If you're looking for lighter weight, improved aerodynamics and good braking performance, this is the way to go. |
The 1410 gram wheels bear the name "Pro" for a reason; the Ksyrium Pro wheels are the lightest aluminium wheels in the Mavic range and therefore ideal for the demanding climber. |
The 17 mm tubeless rims allow wide tyres from 25 to 32 mm to be used, which improves comfort and grip. |
The UST tubeless system has a tight connection between rim and tyre. This means that the setup is perfectly airtight and can even be made tubeless with using an ordinary bicycle pump. |
The Instant Drive 360 body has a 9-degree engagement, which means that the wheel set reacts very quickly when you put power on your pedals. |
After registration of the wheels on the Mavic website, the manufacturer's warranty is extended from 2 to 3 years. |
Cons
The internal rim width is fairly narrow at just 15 mm. This means tyres of 25 mm or more won't fit quite perfectly onto the rim. |
These wheels cannot be made tubeless. |
The carbon braking surface makes this wheel less suitable for long mountain descents with the risk of a blowout or rim deformation. |
The UST technology is at its best with Mavic UST tyres. Other tubeless tyres do not fit the rim as well. |
The Ksyrium Pro UST Disc is only available with Shimano 10-11 speed. But there is a Mavic ID360 body available for SRAM XDR or Campagnolo bodies. |
