The Velcro-fastened cuff extends well down your forearm, increasing comfort and protection against cold airflow between your sleeve and glove. The contoured construction adapts to the natural, slightly curved position of your hand on the handlebars, rather than your hand having to follow the glove's contours.
Polartec AirCore fabric with fleece lining
While this combination provides full wind protection on the back of the hand, the fleece lining on the inside provides extra warmth in the lowest temperatures.
Castelli’s warmest gloves
Most of Castelli’s winter gloves, such as the Perfetto RoS 2 and Perfetto Light 2, are designed to offer an optimal balance between warmth and dexterity: thin enough to allow for easy gear changes and braking, yet warm enough for moderately cold conditions. The Estremo 2 winter gloves, then, offer a different balance: In temperatures down to -5°C, you need more than a thin fabric, so the gloves combine a windproof outer layer with a thicker fleece lining, at the expense of some dexterity. This is a deliberate trade-off: On the coldest days, warmth takes precedence over maximum dexterity.
Pre-shaped construction
The glove is sewn in the shape of a slightly curved hand – as it rests on the handlebars – rather than being flat.
What is the practical advantage of this in extreme cold?
With a flat, non-pre-shaped glove, bending your fingers often makes the fabric bunch in the palm, which can cause pressure or affect the handlebar feel. In extreme cold, this is particularly annoying because you already have reduced precision due to the thickness of the glove. By pre-shaping the glove to the natural gripping position, Castelli allows the Estremo 2 glove to fit more snugly without bunching, which improves your grip and braking feel despite the extra insulation.
Silicone print on the palm
The textured palm improves your grip on the brake and gear levers, even though you are wearing thick, insulated gloves.
Microsuede thumb panel
This soft panel on the thumb is specially included to allow you to wipe your nose on cold rides without causing irritation.
- Extreme winter temperatures between -5°C and 5°C;
- Riders whose main focus is on maximum warmth rather than optimal precision.
- Milder temperatures above 5°C – in such conditions, thinner gloves (such as the Perfetto RoS 2 or Perfetto Light 2) will be more comfortable.
- Wash the gloves at a maximum of 30°C, inside out, for best care of the Polartec AirCore fabric and fleece lining.
- Leave to air dry; the tumble dryer will damage the insulation and the silicone print.
- Use the microsuede thumb panel to wipe your nose on cold rides.
They may run a little small. If you are unsure between two sizes, choose the larger size, or check the size chart in the order box at the top of this page before placing your order.
