How do I attach a bike basket to my bike?

An aluminium, plastic or rotan baskets is usually mounted on the handlebars of your bike, so that the basket sits at the front of your bike. How you mount your bike basket to the handlebars of your bike can be done in several ways, such as:
  • With an adapter or attachment set: Some bike baskets are equipped with an adapter or attachment set that can be easily attached to the bike. These sets can often be used on different bikes. You can then buy multiple adapters so you can easily swap you basket from one bike to another.
  • Using cable ties or rubber bands: If you don't have an adapter or attachment set, you can use cable ties or rubber bands to attach the bike basket to the bike. This is a quick and easy way to attach the basket, however, it's not very convenient if you plan to use your basket on multiple bikes. NOTE: make sure the bike basket is securely attached to the bike.
  • On a pannier rack: If you have a pannier rack, you can attach the bike basket to it. This is a sturdy and stable way to attach the basket, but it may be limited in terms of space.
For your own safety, though, it is important to pay attention to the following: if you attach the bike basket in any of the above ways, make sure the basket is secure and not overloaded. If the basket is too heavy, it can unbalance the bike, causing you to fall. This is especially true if your bike is also equipped with a child bike seat.

What size bike basket do I need?

Bike baskets are available in different sizes. Which size you need depends on several factors, such as:
  • The amount of stuff you want to carry. If you often need to transport a lot of stuff, then of course you need a larger bike basket. This way, you can be sure that all the shopping, school books or work stuff will fit.
  • How big the bike is: If you have a small bike, a bike basket that is too big can mess up the bike's balance.
  • Where you want to place the basket: If you want to place the basket on the front or back of the bike, make sure the basket is not too large to attach.
