Durable and strong
While developing the Ubique G42C, durability was one of main aims. As an all-rounder, this wheelset had to be usable on all surfaces. From perfect asphalt to cobbles, gravel and forest trails. The G42C can handle it all. This is due to not seeking the extremes and relying on proven technology. We start with the heart of the wheel: the hub. This runs on industrial bearings with good seals. This keeps the wheel turning beautifully even after many kilometres of use. Industrial bearings are the most widely used bearings in the world and widely available, making the wheel set easy to maintain. The hub has a centre lock attachment for brake discs, so discs from all major manufacturers fit the Ubique wheels. The connection between the hub and the rim are the straightpull Sapim spokes. Straightpull ensures a stiffer and stronger wheel with less chance of spoke breakage. On top of that, the spokes are also double butted. This ensures better shock absorption and even less chance of spoke breakage. The extra strong end of the spoke extends into the high carbon rim. The combination of 42mm height and 30mm width makes the rim the perfect all-rounder. Suitable for road tyres from 28mm up to very wide gravel tyres. The result is a very sturdy all road carbon wheelset weighing just 1595 grams.
Ubique
Since 2017, we started developing our own carbon wheels in cooperation with well-known wheel manufacturers. This was such a great success that it has continued under the name Ubique. Ubique in Latin stands for everywhere. This is how the brand hooks up with being able to use Ubique anywhere in the world. 2 generations of Mantel wheels have provided the feedback to keep developing the product. We have been able to do this through product analysis, customer feedback, seeing the developments in the market and, of course, our own cycling experience. With these wheels, Ubique offers a wheelset for multiple disciplines, such as road and gravel. Ubique's goal is to put a line of products in the bike market that are competitively priced, but absolutely not inferior to well-known brands in the same product category. And at the same time being able to offer a high-quality and reliable product.
These Ubique G42C Disc wheels are suitable for tubeless tyres as well as folding or wire tyres. The wheels are already fitted with a tubeless rim tape and tubeless valves, making it so easy to make the wheels tubeless. The tight fit between outer tubes and rims makes the wheels easy to convert to tubeless. This involves fitting tubeless tyres, tubeless valves and then adding latex sealant. This allows you to continue cycling in the event of a puncture in most cases and you don't have to stop by the side of the road to change a tyre. The latex sealant fills the hole within seconds if it is not uneven or larger than 3mm.

Sturdy wheels that are easy to make tubeless
Used these wheels tubeless during a four-day 800-kilometre gravel ride. Ridden quite hard over forest trails, gravel paths, mud trails, dirt roads, etc. Oh, and of course on asphalt. So well used from ride 1 and they have held up very well. Recommended. Good value for money

After only 300km, the wheels have to go to the bike shop to tighten the spokes due to rattling
After 300km the wheels already have to go to the bike shop to tighten the spokes because of rattling, which is normal according to mantle and at their own expense. Should be mentioned somewhere

Good set of wheels
Review after one ride with mixed gravel and road: The wheels feel solid and fast. The weight is slightly below the specifications at 1580g in my case, and they look really nice. The freehub is the only part that could be a bit better. The sound is good, not too loud when riding, but the 3 pawls of the XDR freehub miss a bit of engagement especially riding on cobblestones or very jumpy terrains. I come from a DT Swiss ratchet and I could feel the difference, but it's still acceptable. Price/quality seems very good, but I need more riding before I can say more.
