Description

Description

The Shimano K05S Resin disc brake pads are the successor to the well-known Shimano K03S disc brake pads and are very universally applicable. Compared to the Shimano K03S disc brake pads, the wear resistance has been greatly improved, without affecting the braking behaviour. These K05S pads can therefore be used in all conditions, without compromising on braking power, engagement or noise.

Explanation of Organic Compound
Organic brake pads consist of soft materials. This means that these brake pads provide excellent controllability and braking power. Due to the soft compound the pad also grips quickly. In addition, the organic compound ensures that these brake pads make little noise while driving.
The disadvantage of organic brake pads is that they do not cope as well with higher temperatures that can occur during long descents. Also, organic brake pads wear harder if you ride in muddy conditions. As mentioned earlier, the wear has already been reduced considerably. Nevertheless, these K05S Resin brake pads remain less wear-resistant than brake pads with a harder compound.
In short, if you use your bike mainly in the summer and mainly cycle in the Netherlands then these organic brake pads are the perfect choice. However, if you use the bike mainly in the winter, or go to mountainous areas, then you should go for Semi-Metallic brake pads.

Note
Manufacturers use different fits. So pay attention if the shape of the brake pad in the picture corresponds to your current brake pad. If you do not know what shape you have, please scroll to the bottom of this page. There you will find a description of each brake pad for which type of brake it is suitable.

Good, but wears out quickly in muddy conditions

- Maikel 25 November 2023

Lovely brake pads, grip well and are quiet. The downside is that they are quite soft and therefore wear out quickly. Had to replace the pads after 2 very muddy rides. If you cycle a lot in the mud, I would go for a harder brake pad. If not, these are fine pads

Pros & Cons

Brakes well
Quiet
Wears out quickly, especially in muddy conditions

5 / 5

Nothing wrong with that.

Fine blocks by the looks of it

Pros & Cons

Fit fine
Keep these from your old blocks
No spare pallet (goes through eye blocks)

Fine for basic riding

- Geert 13 April 2023

For good-weather rides and average braking, fine pads. If you go a little further than that then you are better off investing the extra few euros in the L05A-RF blocks with fins. These brake better and wear less hard in more extreme conditions. In particular with wet gravel/sand be careful, then they wear incredibly hard.

Pros & Cons

Cheap
Great for basic riding
Risk of rotor damage when blocks run out
Wears out quickly

Beeping under intense braking

- Tristan 26 October 2022

Not suitable for use on field bike. At intense brake actions deafening squeak, very irritating. No problems with brake pads K03s.
