Pros & Cons
Pros & Cons
- Reliable shifting performance and high shifting speed even when you're standing on the pedals.
- This cassette contributes to reducing shifting speed with 1/3 compared to the 11-speed Shimano groupset.
- When developing this cassette, Shimano took the 'sweet spot' between the 6th, 7th and 8th sprockets into account.
- Suitable for mechanical as well as electronic groupsets.
- As the 105 cassette is ground using Hyperglide technology, it shifts slightly slower than the Ultegra and Dura-Ace 12-speed cassettes, on which the Hyperglide+ technology is used.

The Shimano 105 R7100 12-speed cassette is a high-quality cassette that is excellent value for money. It is available in an 11-34 ratio. When choosing this ratio, Shimano took into account the 'sweet spot' on the 6th, 7th and 8th cogs. 12-speed allows you to keep the sprockets that make for the most comfortable riding at medium speeds despite large ratio differences. Hyperglide is derived from mountain bike groupsets and contributes to better gear transition under strain. The cassettes come with the HG mounting pattern, which is also compatible with all Shimano HG 11-speed freehub bodies.
11-34 Combination: 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, 19, 21, 24, 27, 30, 34T
Mounting with special tools
To install and remove this cassette you need specific cassette tools. These can be found here.
Don't forget the assembly grease!
The lockring on your cassette should be quite tight, in most cases even up to 40Nm. To be able to loosen the cassette, we recommend applying a bit of assembly paste to the lockring. Our assembly greases can be found here.
