Description

Description

Latex inner tube designed for cyclocross. The Latex composition ensures a lower rolling resistance and a smaller chance of punctures. When combined with the Challenge Open Tubular, the ride approaches that of a tubular tyre, but with the convenience of a clincher tyre!

Technology

• Material: latex
• Weight: starting from 85 grams

Compatibility

This inner tube is suitable for cyclo-cross and gravel biking. In addition, you can use this inner tube for road bike tyres of 28 mm and wider.

Assembly

You cannot inflate a latex inner tube hard outside the tyre because it can cause bulges and deformations. Therefore, always inflate the latex inner tube carefully and only slightly until it just begins to show a rounded form. This reduces the chance that the inner tube will come between the rim and the tyre during mounting.

User tips

• Slightly stretching the strap before mounting makes mounting easier

Great tubes with a major flaw.

- Dale 29 August 2021

Great riding tubes until they fail. Constant failure around the valve area due to a strange reaction where the latex bubbles and bursts.

Pros & Cons

better than butyl
don't suffer snake bite punctures as much
ride smooth
expensive
fail all the time

All good so far...

- Stuart 19 October 2020

I boughT five of these latex tubes I readiness for this years National Trophy CX season. I learnt very quickly not to over inflate the tube before fitting as a bubble formed near the valve which made a the tube a bit too baggy - so be really careful. Performance-wise I can’t fault them. Yes the leak air so you need to ensure exactly what pressures they are at before you race - don’t rely on pressures from the night before as they will have gone down. They are super light and allow you to run low tyres pressures with your open tubulars - not quite as good feeling as tubs, but as good as you are going to get with clinchers.

Pros & Cons

High performance
Lightweight

Ultra lightweight - great rolling

- Mike 10 December 2019

Ultra lightweight seamless inner tube that rolls great with Challenge 320TPI cross tyres. They are supple as well, they won't avoid 100% of intrusions into the tyre but I've found some debris in the tyre that surprisingly hasn't punctured these Please bear in mind that due to the more delicate high performance nature of this product they need more care and attention than butyl inner tubes, some advice - 1. Take your time fitting them, avoid tyre levers 2. Put some talc in the tyre for dry lubrication when fitting 3. Make sure you have a good rim tape such as the Velox cloth ranges 4. If you are going with Challenge open tubular tyres pre stretch the tyres first on your rim with an old butyl inner tube, you won't regret it! Finally for a little piece of mind, I put in some Effetto Mariposa CaffeLattex in mine.
