The Assos Chamois Crème should be applied directly onto the skin before heading out for a bike ride. Try to avoid applying it to intimate areas. It is also recommended to apply a thin layer of cream to the chamois of your cycling shorts / longs after every wash. This will help to maintain its suppleness, elasticity and antibacterial properties.

Costs a bit but the saddle pain is gone.
Never bought such an expensive cream before, but after saddle sores on cycling holiday, I invested in this, in combination with a new pair of shorts with good bibs and a new saddle. Lubricated every day of the cycling holiday thereafter and despite two weeks of daily hours in the saddle, no pain!
