Castelli Cycling Clothing for the New Season

The red logo with the white scorpion has become a familiar sight in the peloton. Both ourselves and our customers have been enjoying the high-quality engineering and great fit of Castelli garments for years now. This season, Team Sky is riding Castelli cycling clothing. We have several items straight from the pro peloton at Mantel this spring.

We’ve enjoyed the winter collection from Castelli over the cold season. Now that the days are getting longer, we look ahead at the Castelli cycling clothing collection for the spring and summer of 2017.

Castelli Premio Bibshort

The Castelli Premio is a bibshort specifically designed to offer support and comfort. Castelli has gone about realising this in several ways.

Firstly, they made sure to use as few seams as possible in the surface of the bibshort. Seamless fabrics tend to tear less easily.

Then there’s the compressive band around the waist intended to support your back. This is where you normally start to get those niggling aches after a long day of riding, which eventually turn into potentially serious injuries

The Progretto X2 padding is familiar from the Endurance X2 shorts which have also been developed for long distance riding. Between the straps on the back is a mesh fabric which ensures optimal ventilation and moves perspiration away from your skin.

We have the bibshort in black with red shoulder straps. From previous shorts, we’ve learned that these can lose a shade or two after a few trips in the washing machine.

As we write this however, they have yet to change colour.

Castelli Forza Pro jersey

The Forza Pro jersey is a prime example of how technology developed in racing finds its way to consumers. Castelli quickly realised they had a great cycling jersey with the Forza Pro.

This jersey has breathable properties which outclass any other garment in the Castelli collection. They’ve made a comfortable version of the tight Race Fit version for this season.

The Castelli Forza Pro weighs an impressive 112 grams and offers the same great ventilative properties as the Superleggera, except it has a more comfort-orientated fit.

The Forza Pro is made using water repellent Stado Nano material. The patented Vislon zipper has a flap behind it, so it won’t chafe if you wear the jersey directly on the skin.

On one of the three rear pockets is a zippered pocket as well as reflective strips for added visibility.

Castelli Idro Jacket

We can’t begin to remember how many times we’ve used the Idro jacket last fall. We had a small number of these incredibly light (123 grams) jackets in our product range.

We’re going to add the renewed Idro jacket to our collection once more this spring. The Idro stands out because of its waterproof zipper, taped-off seams, and the anatomical cut.

The cut is designed to prevent any flapping fabric in the wind. This season’s version sees the addition of the Gore Tex Active membrane which not only makes it completely waterproof but extremely compact in storage size as well.

The finish can be considered minimalist in design. There’s not a single excess seam or fold. The waterproof YKK Vislon zipper on the back allows for easy access to the pockets of your cycling jersey.

All this makes the Castelli Idro Jacket a useful and reliable rain jacket.

Castelli Climber's 2.0 Jersey

The name says it all really: a jersey designed for climbs on warm summer days. Two things were key when Castelli developed the shirt. It had to be lightweight and able to quickly dissipate rider heat.

The Climber jersey is also suitable for regular rides on hot summer days. The wafer thin mesh allows almost all moisture to pass right through.

This property actually works great in cold and wet conditions. Use the Climber’s Jersey as a base layer and your torso will remain dryer, meaning it won’t cool down as quickly.

Besides the version for men, Castelli has made a fantastic Climber’s Jersey for women as well. This jersey has exactly the same great properties and sleek design as the men’s version.
