Exactly what I wanted in an upgrade

If you're looking at the SRAM GX Eagle rear derailleur then you'll know this is the benchmark in 12 speed rear derailleurs. My bike came stock with a SRAM SX Eagle rear mech which is lowest level. One of the main issues I had which the GX immediately solves is that the SX has no clutch system and is pretty noisy out on the trail. The GX is far quieter and so much smoother and more precise feeling when shifting through the gears. The whole Eagle range is interchangeable but I also upgraded the shifter to GX, again this was to improve the precise shifting and also de-clutter the bars by mounting to the brake lever. For your average mountain bike rider the GX is a perfect combination of weight/features/price point. For the more weight conscious rider you can look at the higher spec that uses more exotic materials but this comes with additional cost and not necessarily improved performance in my opinion. If I had to be critical the main thing would be availability, globally there is a shortage and if you do get to a stage where you need a replacement it could take a little while to get hold of one.

Derailleur not yet mounted

After a branch between my previous NX derailleur completely destroyed it, it was time for an upgrade. My previous bike also had a 2nd generation GX group so this was the choice for the new derailleur. It shifts much smoother than an NX. Adjustment is a point of interest but works out perfectly. If your derailleur is broken like mine, be sure to check your derailleur pad! It was no longer straight and caused bad shifting on random gears. New one on and all problems were gone. Very pleased with my purchase. Thanks for the fast delivery yesterday. Today I can already hit the single tracks.

Going for a ride on Sunday morning and finding that your derailler no longer shifts as desired.... everyone knows that feeling. Coming home and immediately scouring the net in search of a successor. After reading some articles, I opted for the GX version, in its 52T version, which should be a bit sturdier than the 50T version. I quickly compared prices and ended up ordering from Mantel for a very good price. Ordered on Sunday evening and delivered on Monday afternoon! That really makes a man happy :-)

I had an early SRAM GX Eagle mech that died when the chain jumped and jammed between the cage and the jockey wheel. This replacement is the new, improved version with a ridge on the jockey wheel to prevent this happening. Best price on the internet too!

Bought this as an upgrade to my sram SX rear mech along with the GX shifter. I recently bought the GX 12 speed cassette aswell so aside form the crank arms I’m fully running the GX system now and I’m extremely happy with the set up. The rear mech itself is noticeably smoother when shifting in comparison to the SX model.

Bought to replace a four year old X01. Easy to set up and so far is proving very accurate and reliable in use.

Precise changes, no slop or vagueness. Weighs a few grams more than higher specification models but is a fraction of the price, which is good since I'm replacing a damaged one as the result of clipping a tree stump. Thought I'd take the opportunity to go for the 52T so when my 3rd chain wears out and my cassette is due for replacement I can get a slightly wider gear range.

I bought this to replace my NX on my Ghost ebike which was constantly needing attention. Really easy to fit even for someone like me with very limited knowledge in the mechanics side of things and it's been on the trigger every gear change. Smooth and reliable with a classy look.

Got this to replace my SX shifter which wasn't shifting right - the GX is a big improvement and the newest version here is a great price for GX. Haven't had it long by I've used it for 6 or 7 muddy rides and shifting is still excellent.

I managed to break my original Sram GX derailleur (totally my fault). In total despair, I ordered a replacement one on Tuesday night. Mantel managed to ship it on Wednesday morning and I received the derailleur 2 days later, in Sweden. Mantel deserves also 5 stars for its excellent service :) Now about the derailleur itself. This is an excellent and affordable 12 speed derailleur. it shifts up and down super quickly and, if properly adjusted, speeds will never jump from one cog to the other. It feels even faster and more precise than the previous GX version I had. With the longer cage this one can also drive the newer cassettes with a 52 teeth cog. Installation and adjustment is easy. There is even an adjustment gauge on the box, to precisely set the B-screw. As I had no clue on how to use it, i downloaded the PDF manual from Sram site. This is actually simple and it's perfect to fine tune the derailleur. Coupled with a new XX1 chain my transmission is completely quiet with fast and precise shifting.

Having put up with poor indexing and constant mech adjustments for a year, I decided to upgrade to the GX derailleur. This product far outweighs my expectations and cured the issues instantly. Well-packaged and easy to install, this derailleur's only drawback is its price. Note that there are no paper instructions and that you have to get them from the SRAM website. My old derailleur (same model) had taken a shock which made it impossible to adjust the gears. On the new one, this adjustment was very easy and all the gears shift perfectly.

Who 28g extra weight compared to the XX1 rear derailleur does not bother, which makes no mistake in buying the GX rear derailleur. It is identical in construction with the XX1 component, it differs only in the material use (aluminum instead of carbon). Following continuous struggles in adjusting the previous 12-speed (10-50) Sram Eagle SX rear derailleur, and its continuous chain hopping between sprockets, I decided to purchase the GX version. Installed in 10 minutes and adjusted in 15 minutes, thanks to the new DIMA provided to adjust the distance between the pulleys and sprockets. It now shifts every gear perfectly, is super strong thanks to being all aluminum with PVC pulleys, costs half as much as the infamous XO1 and above while keeping the quality gap low.
