SRAM GX Eagle AXS Upgrade Kit

Good experience with the GX AXS, now my 2nd bike with this gearset and bought at Mantel (like my bikes) because of the good service and guarantee.

Easy to mount, just have to download the latest version of the app otherwise the fine adjustment will not work. Via the app you can set the shift buttons to your liking, also the multishift, long-press shifter can be set with 2 or 3 steps at once or several shifts in a row. The first ride of 50+ km is on it what a pleasure to ride. The shifter feels good, your thumb falls right in so you can easily shift up and down.

This is a great upgrade. It's pretty much plug and play. Easy to install and before you know it you're styling wirelessly on your way. Micro adjustments can be made with the controller but this just works the barrel adjuster on the mechanical version. However, you can make micro adjustments per cog on the deraileure in the SRAM AXS app. Note that this may not work immediately. In my case I had to update deraileure firmware first (might be useful to mention in the description unless I missed it).

Easy to assemble yourself. Shifting is (of course) super light and smooth. It is very nice that you can see the fine adjustment in the app. Also the change of direction on the shifter is top! As an amateur you obviously don't need it at all so it remains an (expensive?) gadget but the cable less, the shifting sound of the motor and the smooth (in several steps) shifting is really enjoyable!

Received very quickly in a beautiful Sram box. Fitted as a replacement derailleur on a complete NX eagle 12V groupset. The derailleur is very easy to install thanks to the videos available (about 30 to 35 minutes to remove the old one and refit the new one with adjustment, the change is quick and precise (never misfires or unwanted noise). The shifter is really ergonomic, you can do everything with your thumb. The little extra is the ability to pair it with my Garmin 520 to see what gear I'm in. Quality product, difficult to go backwards after testing the electric.

Never really saw the SRAM GX Eagle AXS Upgrade Kit as a part I would buy - especially as my mechanical GX shifter and derailleur work perfectly. Until Mantel came up with the €399 offer...I couldn't ignore that anymore! Have had it for 3 weeks now and really don't regret anything. Installation is super easy and works immediately. It shifts smoothly and quickly (even with Shimano cassette) and cannot be compared to the regular GX shifter & derailleur. Whereas with a regular shifter you sometimes have rattles, especially if you apply force, this is not the case with the AXS, it jumps straight into the right gear. Shifting gears with a controller is very different from a normal shifter - often I still press the wrong button, hold it down too long or accidentally touch it - definitely something that needs getting used to. How it all goes in the long run we have to wait and see but am very positive. Something I do have doubts about is the battery especially if you do bike tours where one doesn't always have a power socket nearby. Am very curious to see how that will go. Something I'm not happy with is the app. It thinks I have a BlipBox. I can do settings but it doesn't recognise the controller. I am already in contact with SRAM about this. Hope they can come up with a solution. It is also not (yet) possible to fine-tune the derailleur via the app. This will apparently come with a later update. What is nice though is the data that is collected such as what gear you cycled with, how often you shifted, etc. Conclusion: Fantastic product! Do you need it? No. Is it fun? Yes! For me, €399 was the reason I bought it but it's still a lot of money to have one less cable on your handlebars. Am I happy? Yes!

This morning, Mantel advised me about the GX AXS groupset. I had tried some of it at a cycling buddy's shop but thought it was too expensive an upgrade. after 2.5 years of mechanical shifting and the GX eagle shifter was a bit dull and adjusting it didn't work very well, I decided to buy this upgrade kit. I tested it for about 25 km today and what a relief. You can personalise your shifting behaviour quite a bit

I no longer suffer from rattling gears with this one! Shifts quickly and precisely and there is multishift adjustable via the app on the smartphone (easy to connect). To shift a gear higher (smaller sprocket), the paddle is not the right shape for me. I've already tried moving and twisting it but nothing helps.

You can do fine without this gadget but it shifts featherlight and very accurately. I needed to change my gears and went from Sram SX to Sram GX. This was just out and compared to the more expensive electric group in terms of cost. No regrets!

Some time ago purchased a Canyon Exceed CF5 which was fitted with an SRAM NX setup. Soon enough replaced the crank for a Rotor Rex Powermeter. Long hesitated because of the price to buy the SRAM GX AXS. Decided to take the plunge and ordered it from Mantel. Installation was really a piece of cake. The manual provided is not very comprehensive but sufficient to get the job done. By the way, there are several installation videos on the internet so that can't be the problem. Coupling the derailleur and trigger is easy, the adjustment of the derailleur idem. I have not been able to try the whole thing on the track yet, but of course I made a lap on the street. Shifting is very fast, precise and noiseless. A breath of fresh air compared to the "old" trigger. Whether it is worth the 620 euro price is of course personal. It is still a hefty sum. I justified it to myself that I have improved in terms of derailleur but also in terms of shifting :) In any case, I expect to enjoy this nice upgrade a lot.
