Fantastic tubeless tyres with excellent road feel

- Rodney, 5 July, 2020

I’ve been using Schwalbe Pro One tubeless tyres for last 3 years on my Canyon Inflite commute bike. Excellent tyres and all the better when small punctures are quickly sealed by The liquid latex sealant. First time I’ve use the Doc Blue sealant and so far so good.

Pros & Cons

Excellent road feel
Great grip
Light
Reasonable price

Not puncture proof and sealant doesn't seal

- Ian, 10 May, 2020

Ok, so reading how great these tyres are used tubless with sealant I invested £150- tyres, rim tape, sealant and fitting- not cheap. I am now on my fourth tyre the first two going in to the bin with holes about 3mm that wouldn't seal even with plugs after about 500 miles each. Still I persevered. Just fitted a brand new tyre with new sealant set up by my bike shop. Second ride it punctured, about 1.5mm max, and that's on the outside, so smaller internally probably. Been riding it over a week now, still leaking sealant and refusing to seal even when left 48 hours, god knows how they think it would ever seal 6-8mm. So....expensive......not puncture resistant....and dont seal.....plus the added benefit that you get to throw them away after about a third of their useful life! Back to tubes I guess until they actually develop a system that does what it says on the can - you can see the size of the puncture on the photo with most of the sealant wiped off, it's a bit difficult to spot though- photos over a week after the puncture

Pros & Cons

Ride smoothly
Dont work with sealant
Expensive
Very short lifespan

Very fast tyres

- Clive, 21 October, 2019

I've run these tyres Tubeless in both 25mm and 28mm form, and find them to be fast, grippy and comfortable, the three positives we all look for in a tyre. They're not the toughest tyre in the world, but running them Tubeless with a good sealant helps considerably with that. Overall, a great tyre for Spring through to Autumn, especially with Mantel's prices.

Pros & Cons

Comfortable
Fast
Good grip
Durability not the best

5 / 5

Good light tyres, smooth ride and seem fast over mixed smooth/ rough tarmac roads.

- Frank, 18 July, 2019

A little pricey, but the Mantel price for the tubeless kit (tyres, sealant and easy fit) was less than CRC for just the tyres. Went from 25 to 28mm. When riding the 25s was considering changing the saddle that came with bike (Giant contact SL) but the lower pressure 28s increased the comfort level of the saddle and bike. The centre of the tyres showed a wear flat after 2,000 km. with no punctures that I was aware of (tubeless set up) the rear tyre punctured 3 times over the next 400 km. I’ve just ordered my second set, so overall I’m happy with these tyres.

4 / 5

Love the confidence they give!

- Simon, 11 July, 2019

Love the confidence they give from a major blowout and the rolling resistance and ride is excellent but they are expensive to run because if they get a significant puncture they then are effectively ruined as they slowly leak air. I have the 23's wider might be better to resist that? Also if you do get a major cut and need to fit an inner tube at the side of the road they are significantly tighter on the rim than a conventional tire.

Pros & Cons

confidence
speed
cost
pain to put in inner tube

5 / 5

Excellent Tubeless Tyre, Easy to fit

- Karl, 5 July, 2019

A great tyre, easy to fit, low rolling resistance and fantastic value for money. Why worry about punctures when a few minutes more to fit them can have TLE tyres fitted to your bike. I've gone tubeless on all my road bikes, zero punctures, trouble free cycling mile after mile.

Pros & Cons

Easy to Fit
Great Value
Low rolling resistance
Peace of mind riding
Punture resistant technology
Additional equipment needed to inflate
Can be a little moe fiddly to fit
RIm tape, sealant and tubeless valves required
Wont fit every rim

Vulnerable to glass on road

I have 25 mm on my Deda elementi wheels and that combination feels so fast!

- Jeff, 6 June, 2019

Found them easy to mount on the Deda wheels and the 25 mm come up 29 mm on the wheels. Changed the rear at 2600 kms still have the front on 3000kms. I have had two punctures I think as got some fluid on my seat tube but no noticeable drop in pressure so have never let me down. Used them training and have done 10 races on themq

Pros & Cons

Durable
Easy mount
Fast
Expensive

Lovely tyre but I could not get it to seal on the rim

- Tony, 3 June, 2019

I've had several of this tyre but because it comes in a small box there is no way to get it to seal. Took it to LBS who gave up and put a tube in it.

Pros & Cons

4 / 5

Fast rolling tyres

- Mike, 23 May, 2019

Tyres are grippy, light weight and seem to roll well. Not a lot else to say really. Downside they don't last long (approx 1500km), especially the rear and are pretty difficult to fit on the rim as very tight

Rolls very well when running tubeless

- Christian, 26 April, 2019

These are my second pair of tubeless tyres from schwalbe for my second bike. I rate them very highly and rolls very well and comfortable to ride. I’ve used my first set of tyres cycling through the Alps, Lanzarote and Portugal and also the rough roads of Surrey and London. After a couple of thousands of kilometres, thread is still pretty good and still enjoying puncture free (or self sealing) tyres. I still like riding 23mm width at the front and Conti GP5000 don’t them so if you need 23mm these are the go-to tubeless tyres.

Pros & Cons

23mm available

No problems with the last set - ran tubeless for over a year with no issues what so ever.

5 / 5

Best tyre I have used

- Steve, 23 April, 2019

I love these tyres. Best all round tyre I have used. I have used them in some terrible conditions on my daily commute and running as tubeless they are great. These will take a lot to beat. I think they are durable too. Lasted me a year of pretty much daily use before having to replace. Which for a race tyre is very good.

Pros & Cons

Don't think, just buy!!

- Stuart, 5 April, 2019

So light and so fast!! I saved about 2lb in weight changing from Conti 4 season tyres with slime tubes to these with 35mls Stans No Tubes. I know this isnt a fair like for like comparison but both have very good picture resistance and I was looking to drastically reduce my bikes rotating weight. Due to the creases in the tyre from the packaging not creating a perfect seal i could not get them to infate tubeless. I fitted the tyres WITH inner tubes at 100psi for 48hrs in a warm environment, then tried running tubeless. The result - no problems whatsoever. These tyres have given my bike a new lease of life. I have increased my average speed by approx 2mph (15 to 17mph). As I said... Don't think, just buy! A definite no-brainer.

Pros & Cons

Cheap
Fast
Light
Need 'ironing' first!

5 / 5

Smooth running and quiet

Pros & Cons

Easy fitting
Fast on road
Quiet
Tubeless ready
Expensive

3 / 5

Slippery and prone to damage

- Greg, 6 March, 2019

Contrary to most online reviews, my experience with these has been very poor. On the plus side, they seated very well and nicely airtight on Hunt rims and Stan's sealant. However, they have nowhere near as much grip or stability as my previous tyres, Michelin Pro 4 Endurance v2. Tendency to completely lose grip even on very moderate turns or at the merest hint of dampness. They break suddenly, with no warning. Also not robust at all, got a huge gash in the centre of the front tyre on the first outing. If they weren't so expensive I would have immediately switched them for something else, even though they are new. I can only hope they start making the Michelins in a tubeless version.

Pros & Cons

Good rim seal
Quick
Not robust
Puncture and damage easily
Unpredictable handling
Very slippery

An excellent advert for going tubeless

- Stephen, 28 June, 2018

Smooth running yet great grip. A tyre that proves all the advantages of running tubeless. This replaced another Pro One which eminently proved its worh on a 105 mile sportive in Norfolk last September. Following a day of rain the Norfolk flints proved a challenge for conventional tube and tyre conbinations, by 5 miles I'd lost count of others puncturing. These Schwalbes continued on unpreturbed. They can be tricky to get on, and off. And longevity is not the best, but then they are a race tyre. I'm waiting for Schwalbe to produce a more resilient everyday version.

Pros & Cons

Fast rolling
Grippy
Security from punctures
Smooth
Fitting & removing can be tricky

- Aidan, 29 May, 2018

These are my second set, maybe just bad luck but rear tyre lasted 20metres, hit a stone and damaged side wall, liquid couldn't seal so had to patch, my first set have been on my other bike 4 months and are still perfect

Pros & Cons

possibly weak side wall

4 / 5

Pretty good tubeless tyres

- Marcus, 20 May, 2018

Set up easy, managed to get a pinhole puncture in the sidewall, the sidewall is too thin to heal so had to get a new tyre

5 / 5

Low rolling resistance, excellent grip, lightweight

- Neil, 14 May, 2018

Time will tell how durable they are but initial impressions are positive, grip in both wet and dry conditions is great, they roll noticeably quicker than my previous tyres and they are nice and lightweight. Being my first tubeless tyres I can't really comment on how they compare with other tubeless tyres but certainly fitting them was quite straightforward.

Pros & Cons

Comfortable
Easy to fit
Lightweight
Low rolling resistance
Outstanding all weather grip

Great tyre. Let down by fitting woes.

- Marc, 4 May, 2018

This is my first foray into road tubeless and I’m impressed. Appears to be as fast, if not faster than tubes. The comfort aspect is demonstrably superior to tubes as you can run them at much lower pressure. I’m light at 62kg and I am running them at 70/70psi for a 25mm. Compare that to 90ish for tubes. Massive difference. However...fitting these is stupidly hard. I mean, two person and two tyre lever hard. Maybe it’s my wheels...maybe it’s the tyre. Either way, this isn’t being changed easily. But, I am hoping that the sealant deals with the need to change anything out in the field should I get a puncture. Because if the sealant doesn’t work...I’m calling my team car (wife) and getting a lift home. These are not being taken off on the roadside. No chance. This could be the tyre that all roadies turn too but I imagine that the fitting will put people off. It nearly did for me.

Good for the right roads

- Glen, 30 April, 2018

I bought Schwalbe pro One Microskin tubeless tyres based on on-line recommendations. There is no doubting that they are light and fast. My experience of installing them is that whilst they are no more difficult than a conventional clincher tyre, it will probably be better to add the puncture repair rubber solution through the valve (i.e. removing the valve core) rather than pouring it in before final tyre installation. This is because the tyre walls are quite thin, so they flatten on the ground as you heave the last edge of the tyre over the rim. This lets the fluid flood out onto the floor, so you don't know how much remains. The ride is comfortable, because you can get away with relatively low pressures (80psi for a body weight of 70Kg). However they are not ideal for lanes around areas with a high flint content in the soil, like the Surrey Hills. Here after just 50 miles I'd had one puncture (which self-repaired to a ride-home-able low pressure) and several surface slits of several mm length. I'm disappointed given the cost and can't recommend them for roads across similar geology. However if I were racing on semi-perfect, smooth roads - then they are probably ideal. Sadly that's not where I live.

Pros & Cons

Allows low psi for comfort
confident cornering
lightweight
relatively easy fit
smooth and fast on good roads
high price
punctures easily
soft rubber
tricky to add rubber solution

- David, 29 April, 2018

Fabulous fast tubeless tyre. Had to buy one recently as had a huge piece of glass gone through. Big tip is not to over inflate and to top up the sealant every 5 months. I use 65lb and I weigh 74 kg.

So good I bought them twice

- Laurence, 29 April, 2018

What a great pair of tyres! The extra comfort was immediately apparent as I test rode them down my street. After a good long hack out I was totally sold! They are wide grippy comfy and fast! I expect them to be puncture free too! So I bought them for my new race wheels too. Run at 70 psi they still roll very fast! Great price here on mantel nice fast delivery as well.

- Jake, 17 April, 2018

Purchased to pair up with new Enve wheels (SES 45 AR) first ride out Wiggle New Forest Sportive 68 miles, roads were terrible poor surface and riddle with huge pot holes and must have crossed over 10 cattle grids and then to top it off it rained, so puddles and standing water, grit and grime. Run the tires at 80 PSI grip, cornering and comfort in abundance.

The best upgrade you can make

- David, 11 April, 2018

I have been running these tyres, tubeless for s little over a year now, riding almost every day, all weathers. As far as I know, I have had 10 punctures in that time and not one of them caused me to have to stop riding. The only way I knew was because of the sealant splashed on the frame. Amazing. Super low rolling resistance, comfortable, and saved me so much trouble. Perfect.

Pros & Cons

Actually very hard wearing
Brilliant puncture sealing while riding
Easy to mount
Low rolling resistance
Very comfortable ride (25s)
A little expensive at full retail price

5 / 5

- Sav, 22 March, 2018

I have used these tires for over 1 year. Easy to fit , good grip and good puncture protection, with a low rolling resistance. This is a quality product that you can trust at a reasonable price. I haven't been able to find a better tubeless tires so have stick with it but whatever products t may be 9ffered up in the future by other brands, it would have to be very special to persuade me to move from these tires.

Best tubeless tyre on the market

- Lee, 11 March, 2018

This tyre has excellent rolling resistance and just feel faster then the clinchers I’ve used in the past. Cornering at speed feels sure footed that gives you confidence on any bend wet or dry and the one big plus is the puncture protection. Absolute great tyre

5 / 5

Excellent Tubeless Option

- Ian, 9 March, 2018

This my 2nd set of road tubeless. I've been using tubeless on my MTB but was less convinced about the benefits of road tubeless. These Schwalbe Pro Ones have changed my mind. Low rolling resistance, great ride feel, plenty of grip and fingers crossed, no flats! Mine are fitted to Pacenti SL23 and SL25, now I thought the only difference between these 2 rims was the brake track but fitting the tyres to the older SL23 has been a major hassle. Let's hope the "no flats" promise is a good one as I don't fancy fixing these out on the road.

Pros & Cons

Great ride quality
No flats
Doesn't fit all rims easily
If it does fail it's a harder fix

4 / 5

Great rolling tyre, loads of grip and all the benefits of tubeless

- Jonny, 7 March, 2018

Had to replace the rear from a puncture that wouldn't seal but otherwise no complaints. Raced on them at low pressures and roll faster than turbo cottons with latex tubes.

Great tyre for the first 120km’s, but not particularly easy to fit

- Mark, 15 January, 2018

Difficult to rate the tyre as I’ve only done 120km’s so far. What I can review is the ease or lack of ease of fitting the tyre to my Mavic’s. I got blisters on my thumbs and broke a tyre leaver before giving up and taking the tyre and wheel set to my local bike shop to fit it for me :)

Great Tubeless Summer Tyres

- Ed, 9 December, 2017

Great Tubeless tyres. Easy to install and seem to have plenty of life in them. Very quick in the summer but lack grip in the winter. I've also had a couple of puncture which I've not been able to seal even with a tubeless puncture repair kit.

Great tyres , I've tried numerous other brands but always come back to schwalbe, the timeless set up is much more compliant , super comfortable with great puncture resistance when used with sealant, they do require lubricant to get them on the rims , make sure you get the tyre bead into the middle of the rim when fitting these to make it easier , run these at 85 psi .

Great compound

- Edward, 29 October, 2017

So far so good. 1500 miles of commuting in so far and bar a few glass cuts from London streets and suburbs here and there nothing too much to report. Which is strange because at first glance these tyres seem quite an open compound with definite grip all speeds, temperatures, wetness and angles which inspires confidence. A pain to put on but worthwhile on the road. Well done Schwalbe.

Fantastic Tyres

- Ray, 28 September, 2017

If you have gone tubeless on your road bike, and if you haven't, why not?, you won't find a better tyre than this. I bought these to replace the set on my Mason Definition (HuntXMason wheels) which I have run from new (c6000 mainly commuting miles) with no problems at all. They are great for comfort but also speed and grip. They are a bit pricey but you know you are worth it.

The Benchmark

- Paul, 26 September, 2017

I have had a few of these tyres, some have lasted longer than others but the one on my back wheel has covered over 1000 miles (1600 km) and has no cuts whatsoever. it's getting quite worn which is why I bought some more but I expect to get a few more weeks riding out of it. I have had no punctures (or if I did, the sealant worked and I didn't know about it). In my opinion, they offer the best combination of value and quality and they can be installed and removed by hand.

Have found these tyres to be a great combination with my novatec jetfly wheels. One of the pair was a breeze to fit and pump up with a track pump, the other was a real pain. Maybe the tyres, maybe the rims. More than happy with them though

Pros & Cons

Comfortable
Feel fast

Very impressive tyre, and so easy to fit.

- Dominic, 16 July, 2017

Never having fitted a tubeless road tyre before I was nervous. I needn't have been. Sure it was fairly physical getting them on the rims but plenty of soapy water got them seated really easily and I only needed an old Tesco track pump to inflate them. Has them on a week and I'm really impressed with the comfort and grip. I'm definitely moving faster and I managed a KOM on a segment that been gunning for for ages but had always come up short. I just wish I'd bought these way back.

Pros & Cons

Easy fitting
Grip/confidence
Ride comfort
Speed

Best grip ever

- Jon, 11 July, 2017

I'm using these tyres with tubes as there on my mavic ksyrium pro exaliths which aren't tubeless rims. Were a pain to get on, but once there on !!! Fast and the grip.. So good And as for Mantel.. Best online bike shop by miles

Pros & Cons

Amazing grip
Very fast
Hard to fit

4 / 5

Great tyres, not the toughest but light.

- Rob, 14 June, 2017

Easy to fit for a tubeless tyre, light and fast. I have just had to bin one after a 5mm gash in the side wall (probably flint), but that is the first serious puncture I've had in 3 years of tubeless so I'm not complaining, and bought another straight away.

Pros & Cons

East to fit
Fast
Great ride quality
Light

Great tyres

- Michael, 21 May, 2017

I love these tyres however they are tricky to get in the rims. I've never fitted tubeless tyres before so I can't say they are more difficult than others but give yourself plenty of time to do it.

Pros & Cons

Grippy
Low rolling resistance
Very tight to get on rim

5 / 5

Fast but not too durable

- SN, 15 May, 2017

Best fitted as tubeless as sealant can seal most cuts to what is a fast rolling light tyre.

Pros & Cons

Low rolling resistance
Low weight
Durability

Best tyres for summer

- Paul, 30 April, 2017

These are the best tyres I've ever used, I've just switched from 25mm Pro One's to 28mm and there's an improvement in comfort. These are the quickest tyres I've ever ridden and I'm no where near quick enough to get near the limit of their grip. Only downside is they rely on sealant for protection which doesn't fix every puncture.

Pros & Cons

Fairly easy to install tubeless
Fast
Light weight
Rely just on sealant for puncture protection

5 / 5

The best tubeless tyre at the best price.

Great tubeless tyres

- Jon, 24 April, 2017

Overall, a really great tyre. Decent grip on the road after a few rides. This is my second pair. First pair lasted 1 year ~ 6000km Can cope with dirt and gravel sections pretty well (28mm version) although not much grip in mud as you can imagine. Can be a real bugger to get on the rim and inflate. I broke 2 tyre levers trying to mount them. Had to carefully use metal ones in the end. Unable to inflate using track pump initially as the tyre cannot be inflated quickly enough to snap to the outer rim and seal. Highly recommend using a CO2 canister for the initial fitting. This will save you a lot of grief. Once installed and filled with sealant they are mostly fuss free. Small punctures self-seal and just require a top up of air to restore normal service.

Pros & Cons

Fairly tough
Fast
Good grip on road
Light
Can be difficult to fit

5 / 5

Very comfortable tyres fast tyres

- Robin, 10 April, 2017

Early days after two weeks and no real fair comparison from tubes with 23 mm contis to these 25 mm set up as tubeless. Never the less really noticed comfort and sure footed grip. Did a 100km ride with grit in places and no damage so far so signs are good in terms of longevity. Hard to fit but could be rims!

5 / 5

No complaints at all

- Alistair, 9 April, 2017

Easy to fit and rides very smoothly. After 1000 miles, the tread still looks good and I have had no punctures. I'm as confident racing on these tubeless tyres as I am on tubulars.

4 / 5

Fantastic... once it's on the rim

- Paul, 7 April, 2017

This is definitely the easiest tubeless tyre to fit onto a rim, however, it's still an effort compared to standard clinchers. I have both the 23mm and 25mm versions (on the same rims) and the 23mm was definitely harder to fit. Other than that, these are fantastic tyres and I've not had a puncture with them.

Pros & Cons

Performance
Puncture protection
Tubeless tyres are harder to fit

5 / 5
