BBB Cycling Nautilus 2 BTL-05

does his thing
does its thing, has a hook to hold the chain and a spare pin. Unfortunately, it is very small in the hand and it is difficult to apply force to the punch for this reason.
Pros & Cons
1 / 5
Poor quality and unusable for tricky jobs.
Aligning the punching pin with the key is proving very difficult. There is too much play in the system. For one-off use, especially to turn out pins, it is still doable. But turning a wedge in is very difficult with this flute thingy. I would buy a better one.

Great price
Good quality at great price.

A must have for any decent cyclist
I had doubts, but my new chain was on it before I knew it. One less reason to trek to the Bicycle Repair shop.

Highly recommended
Great piece of kit. Easy to fit. Loosening chain does take some force due to short lever. Good for arm muscles!

Easy and efficient.
Simple and efficient to use, does the job perfectly.

Too weak
Unfortunately, the punch broke down after the second use. Part where the chain should be in broke off.

conveniently compact
works well

Top quality.
Works perfectly and is the best chain punch for the price, also definitely good for in a saddlebag when going on long trips.

Value for money.
KMC chain customized with it. Worked out perfectly. Tip: oegen first on old chain or schake you don't need anyway. Pay close attention when punching so chain sits nice and straight on pin.

Broken after 1x opening the chain
Breaks after 1x opening the chain. Bolt turns silly. Worthless.

After 3 chains no longer usable
Maybe it was due to improper use, but after 3 chains (the last one was a rusty one though) the punch had died. the threads were already turning lame. It also has a fragile tip on it that gets crooked quickly. I couldn't find a good manual online either so don't know if it was due to use. Too bad, because normally I'm always satisfied with BBB.

works well
Only used 2x so who's to say for the future but this 2x it did its job

Far too weak for strong chain
With a KMC X9 chain, I had to use a lot of force to press the pin out of a link. In the process, the lever totally bent and also the thread of the press was damaged after 1x use, although I used it 2x on the same KMC X9 chain. The best thing to do is to remove the rubber handle and place the press in a vise and then tighten the press with large water pump pliers. Maybe it works easier with other brands, but with the KMC X9 chain it was virtually unusable.

Reasonable chain punch.
For breaking the chain, this tool is perfect. For pressing in a new chain pin, I did not find this tool suitable. The spindle damaged the threads in the body of the tool. To press in a new chain pin, the spindle had to be screwed out of the housing so far that the spindle was only threaded into the housing on 3 passes. Eventually the spindle broke out of the housing before the pin was pressed into the Chain.

Had doubts and bought anyway and no regrets. Very handy not too big. A valuable addition to the tool set !!!

Had expected more from BBB equipment
Possibly I did something wrong, as I am taking the first tentative steps in maintaining my bike, but the device is/was absolutely not user friendly. (Was there play on the device ? Was it a manufacturing defect ?) I really spent 50 tries on my old chain and only managed to get the pin through effectively once or twice. I'm not the accomplished bike repairer yet either, but I didn't think it was supposed to be that difficult anyway ;-) So I went and got a "gadget" at the local sporting goods store and it worked right away, and every time until now. I tried again with the BBB material and once I succeeded fully (what did I do wrong, was it me?). Unfortunately, no improvement with this tool. Put in the toolbox probably never to come out again :-) Nice though: Accessory to hold the chain together if you don't have a chain wear gauge that does that.

Leaving left
After one use, the first pin you use to push the link apart was already creased. Second use was good for crimping the shaft itself on which the pin sits. Cheap, unfortunately worth nothing. Best to spend a little more and be sure of your material. Now have a model from park tool, works much better.

Will have done something wrong but didn't work
Got a cheap punch of other brand which works better. Could not get the chain loose with this device.

Schrott
Ich bin total enttäuscht. Der Dorn läuft nicht zentrisch. Die Haltefunktion ist sehr instabil. Das versplinten einer neuen Kette somit fast unmöglich. Schade.

is of inferior quality
When I wanted to disconnect my chain, a rod broke off. The device had become unusable.

Handy and strong...
Handy and strong tool, which can be used to make the chain to the right length....

Does what it needs to do
It takes some force to turn the pin out of a link. It does work although the pivot arms(levers) could have been a little thicker. I put on gloves to get a good grip and pressure.

Multiple defects
There is a lot of play in the threads which causes the pin to move up and down when you turn it in the chain. This makes it impossible to "aim" properly. You also have fairly little leverage so you have to apply a lot of force. In addition, the chain punch is clearly not designed to join a chain.

Absolutely great
Works perfectly , handy thanks the good handle.

Handy and effective
Handy chain punch at a great price. Handy size and does what it is supposed to do. With a clamp you can tighten and center the chain so that removing the pin is easy. With the included bracket you can easily de-energize the chain, which simplifies the installation of a new chain.
