According to the product specialist
Pros
The Crossmax wheels are strong, reliable and use high-end technologies such as UST tubeless and an ID360 hub. This gives the wheels a very good value for money. |
The hubs are well sealed against water, mud and dirt, reducing the need to replace bearings. |
The Instant Drive 360 freewheel body has a 9-degree engagement, which means the wheelset is very responsive when you accelerate. |
The UST tubeless system has a tight connection between rim and tyre. This makes the setup perfectly airtight and can even be made tubeless with an ordinary bike pump. |
After registering the wheels on Mavic's website, the manufacturer's warranty is extended from 2 to 3 years. |
Low weight - 1680 grams - and 29 mm outer rim diameter for speed on descents and hilly terrain. |
36T ratchet system for quick and reliable engagement when accelerating after a turn. |
Performance-oriented for racing with your cycling buddies or performing to the best of your ability in competition races. |
The hubs are durable and reliable, which makes them perfect for wet and muddy conditions. |
The perfect wheels for mountain biking on Trail and Enduro routes because of the 30 mm internal rim width for a stiff and comfortable ride feel. |
The Instant Drive 360 freewheel body has a 9 degree engagement, which means that the wheels respond instantly when you press down on the pedals. |
The UST tubeless system ensures perfect airtightness and allows you to go tubeless using an ordinary bike pump with most TL tyres. |
As the Mavic QRM hubs are well sealed against water, mud and dirt, bearings last longer before needing to be replaced. |
If you register the wheels on Mavic's website, the manufacturer's warranty is extended from 2 to 3 years. |
The Rapid Drive 108 hubs have 108 engagement points for fast accelerating and stable pedalling. |
The Line rims are made of Bontrager OCLV Pro Carbon for high strength and durability. |
The 29 mm inner rim width ensures great stability on the trails. |
Cons
The Crossmax wheels are relatively heavy for an XC wheelset (1937 grams, 29"). With a higher-end MTB wheelset, you can gain quite a bit of weight so you can bring them up to speed more easily. |
The Mavic Crossmax is not available with Shimano MicroSpline fitting. However, an optional Mavic ID360 Shimano MicroSpline body is available. |
Lightweight but not the very lightest mountain bike wheels in our assortment. |
These wheels are heavier than the Mavic Crossmax XL 29 S and SL MTB wheels. |
You will need another end cap (driver) to make these wheels Shimano 10/11-speed or Micro Spline compatible. |
