Beautiful tire to look at, dramatic puncture resistance

- Youri, 19 May, 2023

After a difficult assembly finally got the tires mounted. Because they are open tubular tires, the tires are flat on the rim when mounted. After 30km already the first flat which was not sealed by the sealant, and after 170km another flat which was not sealed. Because of the relatively high pressure with 25mm tires, tubeless is not suitable.

Pros & Cons

Beautiful skinwall
Leaky
Very difficult to assemble

The ideal band.

- Niels, 16 May, 2023

Challenge makes beautiful products and the handmade TLR is my favorite. The high TPI provides low rolling resistance and the look of the tire is beautiful. Fitting is a challenge especially on carbon wheels.

My second set of Strada Pro TLR. Am very satisfied. Incredibly smooth tire. Mounted within 5 minutes on DT Swiss 1400. Some soft soap and the right technique work wonders.

Warning: no wet grip

- Cor, 14 February, 2023

These tires are beautiful and seem very quality handmade. They are also great for cycling because they have low rolling resistance. That's where my positive experience ends. I found it super difficult to put these tires tubeless with a hand pump. Had to buy a booster to get them on where it was never necessary before with other tubeless ready tires. These tires have virtually no grip on a wet road surface. First ride on a wet road and I fell twice. Slipped once in a corner (not that serious) and fell pretty hard the second time - slipped over a ditch in the road that I would normally expect to roll over easily. I've never fallen on my road bike before and suddenly it happens twice in one day with these tires. My shirt is completely torn, my bike is fortunately still fine with some scrapes. I myself have no serious injuries but some scrapes. The worst part is that now I don't have the confidence to take turns with these tires even though I try to ignore what happened. Really bad experience, these tires are dangerous.

Pros & Cons

Beautifully handcrafted
Low rolling resistance
Difficult to fit tubeless
No wet grip

Impossible

- Mieke, 18 December, 2022

These tires are really impossible to fit, so tight. I can get the Schwalbe TLE tires on my rims and they are immediately airtight (can also be ridden without sealant), but these tires would not seal or hold air at all. Sent them back because I could see myself stranded along the side of the road with a flat because I couldn't get the tires back on. Can't say anything about ride characteristics, because I didn't even get that far.

Pros & Cons

Impossible to assemble
Not airtight

Many an hour it took to finally get both tyres fitted. But perseverance wins! And it's only (hopefully) once a year
