The Northwave Hammer Plus MTB shoes feature a seamless Unibody construction. This construction significantly increases wearing comfort during your mountain bike tours. Indeed, unpleasant pressure points are prevented, allowing you to keep performing with comfort. Ventilation holes all over the shoe ensure optimal ventilation. This keeps the temperature of your feet at the desired level.
Jaws Evo Sole
The sole of the Jaws Evo is made of thermoplastic material, with a tread made of natural rubber, resulting in a lightweight design and excellent grip even on challenging terrain. Featuring the advanced Flexi System, this sole provides extra arch support, combining high comfort while walking and optimal power transfer while pedalling.
SLW3 Closure System
The Speed Lace (SLW3) closure system, integrated into the shoe, delivers optimal support, ensures a secure fit and is quick and functional to use. Opening and closing the shoe is done with just a few actions. The rotary closure allows precise adjustment to the millimetre. The closure can be gradually adjusted in steps or fully opened, making adjusting the shoe simple and precise.
In order to help you, as best we can, to choose the right size shoe we have measured all the shoes ourselves. All that's left for you to do is measure your own foot length, and we'll tell you which shoe size per brand suits you best. Does your foot length in mm not appear on the relevant product's page? Then that particular shoe is not available in a size that suits your foot length.
You can easily measure your foot length using an A4 sheet of paper, placed on the floor against a wall. Stand with one foot on the piece of paper, with your heel against the wall. Draw a line above your big toe (or above the index toe if that is longer). Now mark your other foot on the paper in the same way. Measure both - the measurement of your longest foot is your foot length in mm's! Please note: some manufacturers have their own measuring system, and as a result what appears on the shoebox can deviate from what we have measured.
What shoe size you need can differ per brand. This is because certain brands wear larger or smaller. To help you get the perfect fit, we've also classified the shoes as narrow, average, or wide fit. Read all about it in our blog!

Comfort for wide feet and affordable
Was looking for an extra wide shoe , on advice employee mantel Den Bosch chose the extra wide from Northwave and it fits absolutely top. Just slightly wider than normal Hammer. First 70k ride, no problems at all with kneeling

Good value for money
Comfortable shoes for wide feet.

Good value for money
Bought the shoes in shop after a long comparison, and this seemed like the shoe where you get the most for your money. Feels sturdy, but is reasonably light and tightens well around the foot.
Pros & Cons

Fine and comfortable shoe that fits perfectly right away!
For me, fit and comfort (and, of course, price) were most important. I ended up with these Northwave shoes, as this is a slightly wider shoe. I was between 'Medium' and 'Wide' in terms of foot width, so I opted for the 'Medium'. For the size, I used the foot length in mm, which resulted in a size 46, where I normally wear a size 45. When I tried them on for the first time, they immediately fitted like a glove. Closure works just fine, easy to choose the right tension and also easy to customise while cycling. What can become a disadvantage is that the buckles are not BOA buckles BOA has better warranty (free replacement). By the way, there are repair kits available for the SLW3 closure on Northwave website. But in my opinion, comparable shoes with BOA buckles (other brands) are also several tens of euros more expensive, so you end up paying for this good guarantee yourself.
