Now that's braking... on a rim!
Terrific efficiency on ad-hoc rims. I weigh over 90 kg and I get the best braking I've ever had with pad brakes. What's more, the braking is perfectly controllable and progressive, but I have no trouble locking the rear wheel if I need to... or just for fun! In short, I love it and recommend it with the DT 1400 wheels, which are perfect for me in the mountains. Weak point: it does wear out faster (at least on my first set of skates) but be careful, it doesn't melt like ice in summer either.
