Elitewheels Gnar XC MTB Wheels

The Elitewheels Gnar XC wheelset is an ideal upgrade for your cross-country bike. Thanks to the hookless carbon rims with a 30 mm inner width, these wheels can accommodate wide modern tyres and are ready for the trickiest technical descents. The Pro hubs with very fast engagement, ratchet engagement and good sealing are at the heart of this wheelset. The low weight of 1320 grams emphasises its excellent price-performance ratio.

Pro ratchet hubs
Elitewheels' new Pro ratchet hub has been improved in several ways. The rear hub uses a tapered 50-tooth ratchet ring for an extremely low engagement of 7.2 degrees and an enlarged contact area. A stronger spring minimises chances of a ratchet skipping, and an improved waterproof seal makes the rings less sensitive to external influences. As we have come to expect from Elitewheels, the hubs are machined to tolerances of 0.02 mm, ensuring that the TPI steel bearings fall perfectly into the hubs for reduced friction and improved durability.

Rims
The Elitewheels Gnar XC rim has an asymmetric design to improve force distribution and lateral stiffness. The rim is designed for modern tubeless tyres, so fitting those will be very easy and only requires a floor pump. The rim is constructed from T700 and T800 carbon fibres. While T700 is the most commonly used fibre in the cycling industry, T800 is another slightly higher-quality fibre. T800 is slightly lighter and stiffer, and by combining these fibre types, Elitewheels ensures the best balance between stiffness, weight and durability. This is how the wheels' low weight of 1320 grams is achieved. The rim has a 30 mm inner width and a 36 mm outer width for extra comfort and stability on tricky descents. An ideal combo would be with a 2.35 or 2.4 inch MTB tyre.

Spokes
The Elitewheels Gnar XC wheels use lightweight steel Alpina Ultralite Aero spokes, which are highly durable and reduce rotational mass, allowing for more direct acceleration. Thanks to the 3 mm spoke offset, forces are distributed evenly. Plus, each wheel undergoes 16 cycles of stress testing, ensuring a maximum deviation of 0.2 mm. This means you will be able to enjoy straight wheels for a long time.
