Pros & Cons

Pros & Cons

  • Very good-looking tyre with reasonable puncture protection.
  • These tyres offer high levels of grip on wet surfaces.
  • Thanks to Challenge's open tubular design, this tyre has the suppleness of a tubular, but the ease of use of a folding tyre.
  • Due to its supple casing and rubber, the Challenge Strada Pro scores slightly less in terms of durability.

Description

Description

The Challenge Strada Pro tyres feature plenty of grip and are also very fast! Ideal for a race with lots of corners, for example. But in addition, the Strada Pro can also be used in normal conditions where you have less turns. This is because in addition to its good grip, the tyre also has very good rolling resistance.

Made of supple rubber and a comfortable casing for maximum performance
Challenge's Strada is known for its suppleness. Supple rubber ensures better performance on the bike. It provides more grip, more comfort and, above all, lower rolling resistance. Tyre suppleness is measured in TPI. The higher the TPI (Threads Per Inch), the thinner each thread is and the more supple the tyre is. A tyre with a lower TPI is thicker and therefore more durable.

Open tubular design
The Challenge Strada is basically a folding tyre but Challenge itself calls it an open tubular. The bottom line is that the tyre is suitable for clincher wheels (for bead and folding tyres) but its manufacturing process and suppleness is similar to a tube. Like Challenge's tubes, the open tubulars are also made by hand.

A really classy tyre made by a company that really understands what a tyre should be.

- Alex 9 May 2023

I love Challenge tyres, these clinchers and the tubeless versions are just fantastic. Vittooria Corsa tyres were at one time like these, but these are so much more durable and simply ride great, low rolling resistance (by feel admittedly), and confidence inspiring, I would take these off road without fearing the tyre being destroyed.

Pros & Cons

A true open tubular (clincher)
Durable and great all conditions grip
Rides like a tubular, but easier
Doesn't have the "latest tech look"
Even trickier with a latex tube
Tricky to mount on the rim

5 / 5

Reliable all-weather tire with super performance.

- Dominique 30 April 2023

I've been using it in competition for several years. Its design and performance make it a borderline tubular tire.

Pros & Cons

Attractive tire with beige sidewall
Reliable in wet and dry conditions
Very good performance

Best road feel.

- Christian 17 October 2022

An edge wire tire with an extremely good feel. Feels almost like when you drove on hand-sewn tube tires :)

Pros & Cons

Good road feel
Lightweight
Reasonable price in relation to quality
A bit tricky to get on

In one race, I fell at least 3 times with these tyres

Pros & Cons

Looks very nice
Far too expensive if your tyres slit so hard
If you ride at competition level this is definitely not a
Smart choice they groove terribly hard

Side surfaces totally discoloured

- Koen 9 June 2021

After cycling and hosing down once, the tyres were wiped with a cloth. Then the yellow areas were totally discoloured. After contacting the manufacturer via mantle, I was told that I was to blame....

Pros & Cons

Yellow areas totally discoloured after 1 week
