Extremely comfortable shoe for awkward feet

- Joost, 16 May, 2025

After 50 years of wearing sports shoes on flat pedals, my feet started to hurt faster and faster when cycling in recent years. So I decided to try real cycling shoes anyway. I was customising Shimano shoes at Mantel, which fitted very well. An sich I have narrow feet, but my right little toe tends to fold under its neighbouring toe if there is not enough space in the front of the shoe. A staff member recommended trying these Northwave's. And indeed, there's nice space in the front of the shoes, while they stay snug around the heel and the middle part of my foot. It also helps that you can tighten the Velcro closure firmly. I have now cycled very comfortably with them twice (on flat pedals). I liked it so much that I have now ordered click pedals to try that too.

Pros & Cons

Neat finish
Rigid sole
Wide toe area
You can just walk on them (but not too far)
