GOREWEAR Fernflow

The GOREWEAR Fernflow is a rugged, lightweight pair of trail shorts for mountain bikers who want to tackle technical trails in almost any conditions. Whether it’s hot and dusty or wet and muddy, these shorts can handle it.

The clever detail is at the back. There, the panel features a water-repellent finish and taped seams. This helps keep out road spray and mud from your rear wheel, so you stay dry in the saddle for longer.

The spacious pockets include a dedicated compartment for your phone, whilst cards and keys can be stored in the hidden pocket. The shorts weigh around 215 grams, dry quickly and come in black. They don’t come with inner shorts, so pair them with a liner or cycling shorts with a chamois.

Splash protection on the rear panel

The rear panel features a water-repellent finish and taped seams. This helps road spray and mud splashed up from your rear wheel to bead off more effectively and reduces the likelihood of them seeping through the seams.

GORE Selected Fabrics

For these shorts, GOREWEAR has chosen a fabric selected for its performance, comfort and protection. The material is lightweight and quick-drying, so you’ll be dry again in no time after a wet stretch or a sweaty climb.

Suitable for

• Mountain biking on technical trails, from hot, dusty rides to wet, muddy days.
• A liner or cycling shorts with a chamois underneath, for comfort in the saddle.
• Bikes without mudguards: the rear panel catches road spray and mud.

Not suitable for

• Long rides in the pouring rain: the shorts are water-repellent, not waterproof.
• Riding a bike without trousers underneath: there’s no chamois, so you’ll lack comfort in the saddle on longer rides.

• A liner or cycling shorts with a chamois to wear under the shorts
• An MTB jersey to complete your outfit

• After a muddy ride, rinse off the worst of the mud before putting the shorts in the wash. This will keep the fabric looking good for longer.
• Wash the shorts according to the care instructions on the label and close all the pockets before putting them in the washing machine.
• Leave the shorts to air-dry. If, over time, you notice that water no longer beads up properly on the back panel, you can refresh the water-repellent coating with a waterproofing agent.
