Bar ends are an extension of your straight handlebars. Bar ends provide more relaxation on the bike because you have more options to change your hand position while you are cycling. On mountain bikes they are sometimes called bull bars or climbing horns because they assist with climbing by bringing the rider weight forward over the front wheel.
